Like numerous other reports online and my listing a few years ago (in which I had a fake bidder with 0 feedback who did not purchase, which meant I had to wait 4 days before requesting a fee refund from eBay and being able to relist my item) I suspect the same has occurred to me today. This time the user who has today won my auction has not paid as yet (its been a few hours) and I now see they have a 0 feedback since joining 9 months ago and that they put in a very high bid to out bid the next bidders maximum bid. I contacted eBay and they also suspect this to be a fake bidder but confirmed I have to wait 4 days before doing anything. I think this is not good enough. That eBay should better protect sellers. I have been a long term eBay member of 21 years who has sold alot on eBay but this has made me question if eBay is still a viable option for me to sell moving forward. Unless I can be satisfied this wont continue to happen to me, I think not. Any suggestions as to how I can ensure this doesnt happen to me in the future?

I find it hard to believe that eBay would recommend users create multiple accounts. To verify please provide the link on eBays Help that provides this detail

Sorry, can't help you. Obviously you are unwilling to accept things 'you find hard to believe' could possibly happen
I do not need to verify, or justify anything to you sir
I also take offense at the accusation I have a separate posting ID to my selling ID for a reason other than the reason I gave. The real and only reason
If you are really that interested, you can search the forum find many, many numerous posts where the same thing has been stated by many other members
I suppose they are all also lying
And then take it up with the grubs who make fake bids on seller's items because they did not the advise given by the seller in question

The truth is they did - most here who as sellers give advice do have more than 1 ID.
As for the 21 years of selling - you must have another ID - this one states 2017??

I think most would agree with me that it is a concern that people have multiple eBay user iDs for obvious reasons.
I would suggest to you that most posters here would disagree with your premise. there are VERY good reasons as you have already been told to keep buying, selling and posting ID's separate. Even - shock horror - to having multiple selling ID's.

Multiple account policy overview
There are many reasons why users would choose to have more than one eBay account. For example, users who like to buy and sell may want separate accounts for each activity. Other users who maintain businesses on eBay may prefer to manage separate accounts for different product lines.

There is nothing dodgy in the mere fact of having more than one eBay user ID. It’s not like having a drivers licence or passport or birth certificate.
An eBay ID may be used for different purposes. For instance, a buyer may wish to start selling, and in order to keep those transactions separate (particularly for tax purposes and record-keeping), that person may set up a separate eBay ID. It also looks unprofessional if a seller’s feedback is juxtaposed with his/her personal buying feedback, and can get particularly messy if he/she snaps up an item on eBay as a buyer but which he/she knows can be resold for a better price. (Perhaps the first seller didn’t identify it properly or value it correctly, or had poor photographs and description, and the buyer who resells it has professional expertise from years of experience or training that gives them an advantage in selling that item.)
Perhaps a seller has different product lines, and it’s better for selling to keep those lines separate by using different eBay accounts (linked but separate).
Perhaps a buyer has several different types of buying - one for secret presents, one for guilty pleasures, one for just general stuff.
Perhaps an eBay user wants to post freely without fear of their posts coming to the attention of, say, their boss, if what they post may potentially cause some disagreement. Perhaps a health professional wants to post without their patients knowing and potentially learning more about that individual than they have the need or right to know. All of us have the right to some privacy in social contexts where that privacy is not for the concealment of criminal activity…
So, no – I have no issue with individuals having multiple accounts per se.
(Misuse of such accounts is a separate point.)

❝✅ Allowed

❝Are there circumstances when creating another account isn't allowed?
We don't allow members to create a new account to get around buying or selling restrictions, or to avoid consequences of policy violations.

Good grief - this has been explained - by sellers - in about 4 lines.

My sincere and humble and repentant apologies if my post offended anyone.

Again - good grief - it's not a matter of offence.
It's a matter of allowing actual ' sellers ' to give their take - their experience - over the years.
One should always read the T&Cs - but most don't - that is why they come here - for help from other sellers.
There is a ' Buying ' heap of threads - for those that simply ' buy '.
