Anyone had eBay discount offers sometimes subtracted from the sellers price?

I am referring to the small green dollar sign that offers a lower price if you enter a code.....these are generated by eBay and they cover the discount. Sometimes I get a sale where I have paid the discount not eBay.

A clear example was an item I listed today [RRP approx $180] selling for $85 [postage included], it was about 5-6 hours ago [so certainly not ready to offer a discount]. There are a few of these items available on the one listing and the first one came through at about $80.50.

So after checking the listing it is still listed at $85 but it appears that again I have paid the discount. I know it is not a lot but these are something that I planned on listing low and not really making anything out of them.

Has anyone else had this?

This is the listing:

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry for the additional post making this a bit disjointed, I tried to edit but it didnt work...

I have just checked the exact code and price and am not more confused [!!]

The code to use is PLACE but the price this gives you is : $82.45 so I am not sure how they paid $80.40 ??

Less PayPal fees ? (On $85 would be $2.51)

Still doesn't add up.

Hmmmm...... didnt think of paypal, but usually I only see the paypal deduction if I go into paypal.....In ebay [and any notifications] they just show they sale price etc so agree it doesn't add up...

Just looked and nothing for that item coming up in your sold list either.

Has buyer paid and if so what amount did you end up with ?

Now it's showing but as being sold for $85.

Obviously just takes a little time to show in completed listings.

Check the amount you actually received.

Did they by any chance buy two items together and get your promotional discount ($10 for 2+ items)?

Hi ๐Ÿ™‚ that particular customer did not buy two but even then it should be $5 off per item so it doesnโ€™t add up. Happened yesterday also where in this instance they purchased two and one of the items had a discount in total of over $7..... just havenโ€™t had time to call them (!!)
