I am now getting email warnings about my auction photographs on all listings that have no bid and can be updated:
"Listings that do not meet our photo quality requirements:"
Generally if I am listing and something is too small I get the warning during the listing process - this has only ever applied to snapshot photographs - which I try not to over-enlarge as it may mislead the buyer if the buyer thinks the photograph is much larger than it is, even though I include measurements in the auction description, but I have always corrected when the waring comes up.
At the moment, as far as I know all of my listings are well over the minimum size requirements, so is Ebay deeming that because I show the edges of all items (which I consider a very important condition aspect for the buyer on used / antique paper items) that I am putting a border around my images against Ebay rules. I also include my images in the description field of my auctions as some get crunched down by Ebay's system.
Which part of the new standards am I missing that are making my auction photo's fail to meet quality requirements?
Kind Regards, Kevin

Just reposting the link to the handy tool available to check the size of your listing photos for the OP, but for other readers also.
You need to enter your user name in the top left, and select Australia as the eBay site, you then click the Get Items buttons.
The tool then highlights in red the listings that have photos that do not meet the size requirements.

Well thats a question I do not need to ask! Thank you!
You would think that the storing of so many extra images would be a waste of money for eBay?
Once you have an image of a stamp in most cases thats all one needs. 🙂

I got the usual bot generated email the other day telling me that my photos were not up to scratch. They may not be the best photos, but they all fall well into the size requirements.
It seems to be the listings that only have one photo. Like a stamp, a lot of my listings only need one photo. No point taking the shots from different angles because they would all look the same! I suppose in the case of a stamp, you could always take a photo of the blank side, but then buyers might think you're having a lend of them!
I actually got all excited when I got that email because the subject was "what are you waiting for?". Usually when I get that subject, it's an offer of free listings 😄

That tool is useful, and I had not seen it before.
My postcard listings, and a couple of small ephemera pieces are deemed to be "Small but Okay", but those are small items and the smallest dimension on any are 569 pixels.
There really is a difference between a recommendation based on generic information (as in the number of images per listing purely based on the average of a category) and a statement that items are not up to required standards. I do not know of any of my listings that have actually failed to meet the required standards, and spending time trying to correct errors that do not exist is not only a waste of time, but also reduces productivity and turnover (and thus reduces Ebay's own income).
Thank you for your help everyone, Kevin
