Aus Post don't scan parcels

I posted 2 parcels on the 5th, it is now the 7th and there is still no tracking info for either of them on the Aus Post website.  One parcel is EXPRESS!!!   What the hell does that mean????  Am I angry?  YES!!  This isn't the first time this has happened.

I called Aus Post and asked them about it.  Apparently the parcels get pushed through a scan and, 'sometimes one gets missed'.  I posted 2 parcels and both were missed in the scan.  Did I mention one was EXPRESS??!!!

What are we paying for?  I thought Express got special attention but I guess not.  I, potlitely, made a complaint about the parcels not being scanned and he told me it would be noted and sent to management.  A nice man.  A bizarre system.

Anyway,  I thought if everyone who is affected by this called Aus Post and made an official complaint, maybe Management would do something to make it more efficient.  I know what Dennis Leary would say but I can't say it here.

Thank you for listening, I feel a little better now.

Re: Aus Post don't scan parcels

All of my registered parcels which I have handed over the counter at the P.O. and have been scanned have been accessible in Australia Post's tracking system. The only difference between the registered parcels and, for example, satchels with tracking barcodes is that one can get a printout for the tracking numbers for the satchels after they have been scanned, but not for the (old stock) registered stickers that I am still using on parcels in order to use up the several boxes of 50 registration stickers that I have, before AP decides they are no longer valid. Although I cannot get a printout for lodgement for the registration stickers, they appear in AP's tracking system when I look them up. The advantage of using the old registration stickers is that as well as being trackable, they also require a signature on delivery. Signature on delivery costs $2.95 extra with other trackable items.

Re: Aus Post don't scan parcels

It was my registered letters handed over the counter don't appear on the tracking site until delivered.

By the way, I had a parcel sent from China on Dec 29, arrived yesterday.  Also another posted the same day in NSW arrived yesterday with a tracking number, tracking number was not supplied, but when checking it only had 'awaiting collection' & 'delivered'.

Another item I purchased from Hong Kong around the same time.  It has a tracking number, but 'China Post haven't received parcel' as yet altho the seller emailed that it was posted at 2 different times.  It is marked officially as posted on Dec 29.  So it looks like I will expect it when I see it.

I did notice that the Chinese sellers are now putting up to 5 weeks on their estimated delivery time.

Re: Aus Post don't scan parcels

So don't use them.

There are at least one member who swear by couriers. So use couriers. You won't have to deal with AP and you will (supposedly) get scans.

You will also likely get upset customers, who will have a lot more effect on your continued ability to sell on eBay than AP not always scanning parcels.

Or is this resurrection of a dead thread a vent? It would seem to be the case, given you haven't actually related any experiences or proposed any solutions.

Re: Aus Post don't scan parcels

In fact, it has got a LOT worse. (And that's allowing extra time for Covid issues).
