Australia Post not accepting items for Canada

From the AusPost website, see the penultimate para.:

Canada

Date: 27 November 2018
Expected delays: Ongoing

Canada Post continues to experience industrial action across Canada, which is causing significant delays in deliveries of letters and parcels to and from Canada. Canada Post has advised this is expected to continue for some time and have asked us to stop sending any parcels or letters to Canada.

All letters and parcels that were lodged with Australia Post on or before Monday 26 November will be sent to Canada on Tuesday 27 November for delivery.

We’ve also managed to find an alternative provider who will continue to accept International Express and International Courier products for delivery into Canada.

We are, however, unable to accept lodgements of letters or parcels for Standard or Economy services to Canada, from Tuesday 27 November 2018.

We appreciate this is not ideal. As soon as Canada Post advises us that they are able to accept lodgements again, we’ll recommence acceptance of all products to Canada – and will update this page accordingly.

Spot on Lyndal. This has been on and off for many weeks now.

We ship the odd item to Canada elsewhere. 40 days has been the longest. Buyers from Canada even ask if you will ship there, despite showing that you ship worldwide. And, many US sellers simply won’t ship into the place.

We always warn a buyer of what can happen. We don’t need to though. They know it well.

Its a cluster. A big one.

...and you know, there’s always complaints about AP, but we should be thankful for it IMO. Compared to many across this revolving rock, they provide an excellent service. And, I do think they’re getting better at it. Except for probably the Underwood distribution centre .... lol.

Many US sellers will not ship internationally which is why they will not ship to Canada.

And you get Canadian sellers who cross the border into the US to get cheaper and faster postage.Smiley LOL

When my in laws were alive we ended up posting gifts to my brother in law in Seattle knowing that he would be seeing his parents on the day.  This was after FIL gave us a bollocking for being late with MIL's birthday wishes....we sent it 6 weeks before the day as letter post, not even a parcel.

We block buyers from Canada for all of our listings - not worth the aggro.

The European countries now are becoming very difficult too. Well, I guess they always were, but more so now. Privacy and Returns Policies can get you in it deep.

We have a good following in the US. I just wish I could find more attractive shipping prices. I’m sure we miss a lot of business just because of cost of shipping.

Worldwide we must change. I think we’ve just been lucky so far.

This mess in Canada looks like it’s going to go on and on. Great time of year for it!!

Melina.

you know what i mean - semi-useless :] (slow, painful, expensive etc). my nephew lived there for a couple of years and sending him things was a nightmare.. often he'd have to pay tax to receive them and they'd just take forever.
