Australia Post, you bunch of morons

Just thought i would have another rant coz i dont have anything better to do.

Australia Post should be dropping their prices to increase Aussie sales and slow down overseas sales not freakin increasing them. After all it is overseas sales that they say is their killer. They keep bumping them up to compensate but they are just making it worse for themselves and every one us.

When i started using click and send 12 months ago the price was at $5.5 and it was also cheaper to send through click and send than it was to send at the post office, it made it more convenient and cost effect, i had more time to sell and so i put more effort into and started to sell more item and not have to go to the post office.

Now its' up to $7.15 that's a massive 30% increase. And now that they have roped us click and send users in, they make it cheaper to send over the counter back at the post office in person. What the hell are they thinking. I hope they wake up to themselves when they realize that there profits are most likely going go backwards next year due to a further increase in overseas sales.

I think we all need to be trying to do something about this, the more we just sit around and let it happen the more they are going to just keep edging their prices high and higher. I just wish i knew what to do.

This partition is one way, it probably won't help much but from what i have heard Karen who started it has now had a couple of radio interviews about it which i think is great to hear it's getting some coverage.
Anyway, if you haven't signed it already i think you should, post on Facebook, twitter, chat rooms whatever you have to do. Try and get this out there and make AP notice that we are pissed off beyond belief.

Don't just stop caring after a couple a weeks and just dealing with their new ridiculous prices, that's exactly what they are expecting us to do.

Thanks

Be aware that postage overseas has also just gone up enormously, especially in the UK and USA where it's doubled for many services.

That's probably what makes AustPost think they can justify their latest gouging, at least in part.

yep, all the box sizes I get sent out to here from the USA have increased significantly in price in the last couple of months.  I buy a fair bit of stuff from USA sellers because I can't get the quantities I need from eBay.au sellers.    I have also noticed that many small items on eBay.com now have postage to Australia that is extremely high.  Couple the USA postage increases with the "Pitney Bowes" arrangement that more USA sellers are opting in to and I have had to rethink buying from USA sellers, but I can't source what I need from Aussie sellers.

Posted the same reply on another thread, but thought it relevant here as well.

I just had to give more money to the thieves at Aus Post.:-(

But did not have any issues printing the Click & Send labels.

What a rip off, What cost me $7.20 2 weeks ago, cost me $11.40 today.:-(X-(

Sooner I can get most of my parcels sent by courier the better.:-)

So over AP.X-(

So would it be ok if we shared any relevant information regarding courier services?   those that are very competitive compared to Aus Post?

I tried e-go  Excellent and very cheap if you are able to drop off at one of their many depots and the buyer pick up at same their end.   their door to door prices are still not too bad though.

Eg, large item, other courier quotes varied from $185 to a ridiculous $450 Vic to NSW,

compared to e-go cost $67, I dropped it at closest depot 15 minute drive, buyer picked up at depot 10 minutes from their home,  taking into consideration the huge saving the short drive was more than acceptable for both the buyer and myself.
and they do offer a long list of depots you can utilize or you email them with the buyers address and they tell you the closest and how far away it is.

Smartsend, got a quote for large parcel, it will just make it by post according to dimensions/cubing but the cost was a fraction of what Aus Post will charge,  plus they pick up and deliver door to door, and give ebay sellers 10% discount.

Officeworks also have a great express service, can be cheaper than AP depending upon what you want.  Has tracking and insurance options too.

If it's going to cost the same I am still tempted to haul myself down to the Officeworks in the next suburb rather than AP just to give my business to someone else .  . .

And lets not forget that while it costs more to post these days, the annual profits from Australia post are in the hundreds of millions.    I find it hard to swallow that they *need* to put their prices up.

ALSO!  There is a newish site called airtasker.com  it is a site where people ask for odd jobs to be done, for payment.  All sorts of jobs from requests to mow lawns, tidy houses, data entry to - deliveries!!  A bit of a strange method for ebay selling and it might not be suitable, (some risk involved) but worth considering if your item is larger than what AP will charge reasonably for. Some people would be happy to deliver an item from one suburb to the next for a small fee.  If you had multiple items going to the same place it could be even more cost effective.  It's time to get creative with how we can get around the monopoly of Australia Post!

Have a look at Big Post  www.bigpost.com.au we have been using them for 12mths and they are reliable with good tracking.

They offer door to depot as their primary option but are expanding and now doing door to business and some door to door.

They have particularly good rates to send from Vic to WA or FNQ.

Any courier is better than Aust Post, nothing worse than standing in a line loaded with parcels you can hardly carry and waiting for someone who is arguing over 15c on their last gas bill!

Totally agree with your point about Click and Send now being more expensive than going into the post office - that doesn't even make sense!

In every other business they provide these 'serve yourself' options to lower the costs for themselves which in most cases reduces the cost for the consumer.  AP is now discourging people from doing something online and sending them back to the counter.

How is that progressing forward?

Couldn't agree more with the subject of this post.

I'd like to know why I can get a $2 item sent from china, and it cost me just $2 with no freight charges???  Don't they have to pay some money for Australia Posts services or is it just us poor aussie suckers.
