What if payment was made automatically by Ebay/Paypal from buyers account once item was won/sold, this would then stop all the non paying bidders?

I'm a bit confused this morning, but wasn't magic wishing leaning more to Answer 1?
Personally, I am leaning towards answer 1, in that is someone makes an impulse buy without checking the listed details, then that's their problem.
Would be nice but do you think a buyer who has been scammed for a reasonably high price item is going to continue to use ebay or is it more likely they are going to be put off for ever?
Probably the only bit I don't agree with in A1 is that the buyer should automatically get any refund if the item isn't exactly what they want & without having to return the item. If it is as described, that should be the end of the matter. No refund.
In my example I thought it was pretty clear I meant the item was not as described, that is it was not the brand advertised but a cheap Chinese knockoff, or it was a permenantly locked phone which can only be used as a doorstop.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for a fair resolution if an item is not as described or has faults not mentioned etc but otherwise, I think buyers, newbies or not, need to take on some personal responsibility for their decisions.
I absolutely agree when something is as described however what if it isn't? It is notoriously difficult to prove something is counterfeit or has an invisible fault and it is only by proving that which will mean the buyer does not have to pay for a fully trackable return, not cheap in a lot of cases.
If they're not sure, don't buy.
We all agree with that but did you 'know it all' when you frst signed up for ebay? My example was of when a seller is deliberately pulling a fast one and it takes some experience to recognise some of the more sophisticated scams that appear obvious to we more experienced members.
