When is the best day and time to end an auction. Is it during the week or weekends? I really haven't done auctions in years.

probably nobody has replied yet because nobody really knows I think it depends on your target audience
if you ask the question in google you get plenty of sites to read, including this:

it would depend on what age group ,if its a regular lot of auctions keep them the same time every week ,for my age group 7 to 8 pm weeknights ,as most people are home from work , i would forget weekends ,people have too many things going on, sport and children and going out.
if you have a look at the board forum prob most activity is done at night when most are home.

Probably weeknights, as someone else said, although from what I have read, Fridays are to be avoided on ebay as the technicians tend to tinker then.

I think it largely depends on the category you are selling into and your target audience.
In our case our items are mostly suited for babies.
So we find that most BIN shopping happens on our two store selling IDs in the 8pm - 10pm in evenings time frame.
Some also in the wee small hours as this would be when young mums are up for the 2am feed time and possibly have a bit of a browse at around the same time.
So we tend to end our auctions in the 8-10pm time frame mostly.

also remember while it is 8pm in Sydney it is 7.30 in Adelaide and 6 in Perth (in winter)
in summer its even more complicated when some States of and some States dont do the summer time.
~~ ~~ ~~ Those who do right, have nothing to fear.

I try and have them finishing every night when I can. I sell a lot on Thurs and Fri nights. I rarely get last second bidders though, most bid well in advance, so for me, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference.
