Bidders Privacy Option Question... It seems I can't change it?

Hello all

It seems that once you select this privacy option, it can not be edited?

I have gone in via BULK editing, and individual items, to unselect the privacy on some of my items, so my feedback responses seem a bit more genuine and people can see items others are doing well with etc...

Is it a big issue these days... Will I need to create a whole new listing? And if so, is there any way to do that and take my followers of those products with me?
I don't mind the idea of revamping anyway, I've only been at it a month or so... but wouldn't mind some experienced eBayers thoughts please?

Cheers all!

Bidders Privacy Option Question... It seems I can't change it?

If you mean that you want the buyers IDs fully disclosed on the feedback they leave you, no, it cannot be done.

It is for their privacy, as you say.

Think of it this way. If you found a magic switch to change it, so IDs read as the real ones, you might lose customers who value their privacy. And were glad of the change.

Prospective buyers can get a feel for whether you are genuine, and a good seller, from the written comments and green dots ๐Ÿ™‚

You can change your listings from private though :)... To give an indication of the products. But some buyers might prefer it to remain a private listing, depending on what it is. As there are still ways for anyone to see what an ID (if they know that ID) has bought/bidded on recently.

So anything sensitive, best keep as private listings.

Ok... it looks like maybe I can go in to each listing individually... sigh LOL

I would still love your opinions on this as an eBay feature?

Thank you! Yes... it turns out, I COULD CHANGE it, but only on a listing I have never sold! haha!

Oh well, I'll go change those ones back to no privacy for now ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you!

You're welcome.

You won't be able to change completed ones I am guessing as you cannot change anything on them once done, for a true record of the transaction.

And a buyer might not be happy if their private buy, became public later.

But nothing wrong with changing unsold items back to public if you want to ๐Ÿ™‚

Bidders Privacy Option Question... It seems I can't change it?

Sorry... one more thing...

If I make the privacy option private, that means the bidder and the items are not visible.

For example... I would like what was SOLD to be visible in my feedback, just not the buyer??

I think I am confusing myself... are they the same thing in that tick this box option!?

If you make a listing private, the details are not shown. No view item.

The buyer ID is now always changed.

So, if you leave a listing normal, the details of the item will show in feedback, but the buyer ID will still be altered for their personal privacy.

Which means there would be a line saying what they bought, alongside the feedback. But as I said above, if you sell sensitive items, you might still want to run private listings. Even though the buyer ID is always changed in feedback, if I know an ID, I still have a way of looking their recent buys up...but I do need to know the real ID. Which I won't get from the feedback, as it is always now changed.

Doesn't matter if a private listing or not anymore ๐Ÿ™‚
