Buyer asking to combine postage

Hi all.  I sold 2 separate items to the same buyer, both with instant paypal payment.  I charge $6.00 for postage on all my items.  The buyer paid - no problem there - but has asked if I can combine postage.

I'm not sure what they mean - do they want both in the same parcel or do they want one postage charge refunded?

For future reference, how can I make a request like this "automated" in my listings?  e.g. so they know that if they buy 2 different items, the post will be X.

I understand how to do it if the buyer has bought 2 out of the 5 identical items I may have listed, but completely separate items?  Not sure which way to go and don't want to risk a neg through misunderstanding.

Thanks in advance.

Why are you beating around the bush? You know what is being asked and requested. I do not like sellers who "Play Dumb" to earn money from postage. The buyer has obviously expected that you group the items in one parcel and refund the extra difference paid. You know that is what they are expecting so why ask?

Dear Alligator.

I AM NOT an idiot, nor am I "playing dumb".  I simply asked a question here, to find out which is the best way to go on this issue.

I am a new seller and have not come across 'combined postage' before.

Contrary to the "beating around the bush" you accuse me of, I am an educated person and had already figured out that the buyer was asking for some sort of refund from me, which I was happy to do - and did BEFORE I posted my question on this forum.

I simply was asking people's opinion on what to do in future (in case giving a refund somehow contravened ebay rules).

So, next time you decide to hop up on your high horse and belittle those around you, spare a thought for those who may not understand the ins and outs of ebay and are merely asking for advice from those more experienced in selling.

Furthermore, I take great umbrage at your suggestion I make extra money from postage - how dare you!  You do not know me, nor do have the right to make such assumptions.

In short....PULL YOUR HEAD IN.
