Buyer claims item not received yet has left feedback?? Please advise

Hi all, I have just received a request from Ebay advising me that a buyer has not received their item?

Buyer's Message:

"I returned home from holiday and the item has still not arrived. Please advise."

 

The auction ended on the 1st of July, item paid for on the 3rd by paypal. I posted the same day.

Feedback received from buyer on the 10th of July. I left feedback at this point as I always leave feedback after I have received it from the buyer as that indicates to me that they have received their item and are happy.

 

Now today I receive the message that they "havent received their item and want a refund" HELP!

I dont have tracking trying to keep postage costs down and as it was a small item I posted as a letter.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated?

I'd sent the buyer a message after I discovered she'd left me 3 stars for as described, to see if there was something wrong and if there was, what could I do to fix it. She said she didn't remember leaving 3 stars as normally if there is an issue, she contacts the seller and then just doesn't leave a star rating at all. In one of her replies she mentioned that she had ticked no for it arriving before the estimate, not realising it would have an impact on my account (I had mentioned about the low rating having an impact and she must have assumed that had an impact as well).

 

She also acmitted that she was leaving a lot of feedback at the same time, so my guess is she's got me confused with someone else. She was very apologetic and wanted to do whatever she could to fix it. I told her there was no way she could change the no to a yes, but didn't tell her that it had no impact on my account. She said she would be more careful in future when leaving feedback and ratings and thanked me very much for explaining how the defect system and what not worked (she asked). It was then I removed her name from my Christmas list.
