Hi!
I sold a Zara shirt to a buyer weeks ago [which was brand new with tags] and they have come back to me now saying there are "stains everywhere" and that they would like to return it and me paying both ways of shipping. They also stated the stain wouldnt come out so I assumed they washed it and have removed the tag. Being brand new, there were absolutely no stains on it when I sent it so I'm not sure what they are saying? I'm also leaving for Europe and won't be back until August if any shipping needs to be done. If they have taken the tags off, I don't want it back. I've never come across a problem like this before and would like an opinion on what to do! Am I being unreasonable?
Thanks 🙂

Yes, there were absolutely no stains. I checked facebook and instagram but their privacy settingd are on. I'll check the feedback but thanks. I'm not sure what to do about the situation as they said they'll open a case..
They also sent me a photo of one of the marks and it was not there.
I guess you mean not there before the sale, because the mark is definitely there now.
I can see exactly what has happened. They made a mark on it somehow (probably while it was being worn) and they have tried to wash it off, but just in that spot. Unfortunately that has left a water mark on the top so now it looks worse than it did when it just had the black mark.
The photo is really clear. There is no doubt the top is stained.
But what isn't clear is exactly where on the top that stain is, so you may like to ask for a photo of the whoe top or at least more, to see the placement.
If you have close up photos of the top that you took, you will have something to prove the stain was not there when it was advertised.
I think your only hope is to get in and convince ebay that the top was new with tags and unstained when you sold it and that the damage has occurred after the sale.
Given that you say you sold it weeks ago, you would think any ebay rep would immediately wonder why there was a delay in opening a case if the top was indeed stained all over and would gather that the buyer was likely to have done the staining. But I wouldn't count on it.
My impression is this buyer is perhaps hoping to fly under the radar, to get you to refund without her having to open any official claim. That way it would be a private transaction, not on the records.
I'd argue my case with ebay, I wouldn't give in without a fight but if they do seem to be taking her side, you might have to refund anyway. It does leave a sour taste in the mouth, I know.
