Buyers Paying seperately rather than combining???

Hi, Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that a lot of people lately are paying for each item seperately rather than waiting for a combined invoice??

I even had an instance where I have sent a combined invoice and they have somehow still paid for each item individualy.

This bugs me in a so many ways;-

I cannot discount postage when people make multiple purchases.

I often find that I post an order and the same afternoon or evening they buy something else.

Paypal charges 30 cents for each seperate transaction.

I have to print out a seperate picking slip/invoice for each item.

I even have a request under the Postage costs asking;-

"If you are buying more than one item please wait for me to send a combined invoice before paying"

Is this a problem caused by the EBAY "APPS" for phones etc.??

Any suggestions or do I just need a stiff drink of Gin and Cement and harden up.

Yes.

Unfortunately, the apps have a number of "glitches", and not being able to pay a combined invoice is one of them (I had this myself recently - an invoice was requested and sent twice, but the buyer was not able to pay it - I believe they get an error message and they're not able to proceed unless the items are paid for one at a time).

I don't know if it still occurs if you have automatic postage discounts set up (so that an invoice doesn't need to be sent for a postage discount to apply), but I was thinking of adding one to most of my items in the hope of making things easier.

The increase in this happening may have something to do with a recent push by eBay for people to shop with their phones (there was a competition where you could win something like $1000 if you used either an iPhone or an eBay app to shop).

Most definitely caused when people buy on their "smart" phones, and don't expect eBay to fix the problem as it's netting them mega dollars via PayPal:|

This has happened to me many times before the advent of apps etc. I state that combined discounts are only given on items paid on a combined invoice and if a buyer wants a discount they should not pay until they receive one.

If they don't wait and pay for items seperately then I just treat them like any other individual transactions. Perhaps the buyer wants them sent like that and it is not up to me to second guess them.

As for the 30c Paypal fee? If it was two buyers it would cost me exactly the same and if it was a combined sale then the 30c would largely be deducted from the combined cost anyway so I would be no better or worse off.

If they are newbies I sometimes email and ask if they would like me to refund their payments so they can save $xx.

That happened to me.. My OH bought a heap of Warhammer models from a UK seller and went through and paid seperately for each one.. We got an e-mail from the seller saying that she had combined the items and refunded the excess postage

A very honest seller, but a little naive - what if you had claimed INR for the the other items - seller would only be able to prove postage for one parcel ??

A sale is a sale and that they are paying is fantastic.

So you have to print another label, and pay another 30c in fees to paypal.

Why complain though when you are still getting the sales?

Better than NON PAYERS

If you use click and send eBay/AP satchels you can put the same tracking numbers on multiple purchase. In that way you can prove you sent many items in one parcel.

Then you can refund over-charged postage via PayPal.

I always refund over-charged postage when I combine the items and I haven't got any complaints about combining items and refunding over-charged postage.

Thats a little like saying "oh well you were in a skiing accident, so what. You only broke your leg when you could have broken your neck. What are you complaining about?"

Sometimes people like to have a vent, even if it isn't the worst thing thats ever happened to them

If all one has to worry/vent about is paying an extra 30c or printing out another label then what a wonderful life to have.

And yes a broken leg would be better be better than a broken neck.
