Buyers leaving feedback

Buyers, please take a moment to leave your valuable feedback for sellers. I am slowly building up my eBay site and get dissapointed when the buyer does not leave their very valuable feedback. :-x Thanks

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

Who gives a rat's about google, I have managed to sell for over a decade and the only negs I received were removed when the scamming buyer was de registered.

It is offering a poor product or poor customer service that causes the vast majority of less than positive feedback, I doubt if even one percent of feedback is left for any other reason.

I don't know why you are commenting on the Australian board anyway as things work very differently here. I don't think very many Australians will waste time looking for ebay items on google when they can search ebay!

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

The only way feedback would become 'valuable' is if you could exchange it for flybuys points-hey now there's a great idea for ebay, wonder if I could patent it like shafted.:^O:^O:^O:^O

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

I sell second hand clothes and there a number of sellers who list in this category that sell poor quality items and take ages to post.

My feedback is most valuable to my business as it affirms to new buyers that check it out, that I sell good quality garments, I post quick too and those who have purchased from me before are satisifed with their purchases and my service.

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

I'm a buyer who still likes to leave feedback, especially when it is for a seller I have bought items from many times - I think it's good to let buyers with similar interests to mine know which are the good ones. 🙂  And if I've had a good experience with a new seller I think people should know.  My understanding is feedback matters more for new sellers getting established than 'old hands' who have racked up thousands of sales.  Might be wrong but that's how I've read it on some of the posts.

I hate leaving negative or neutral feedback so things have to be really bad before I will.

There's also been a couple of occasions where becuase my purchases would not be marked private I have asked the seller not to provide feedback and I wouldn't either, as the items I'd bought were to be gifts....and I wanted to keep them a surprise. 😉

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

Of-course, FB is valuable for sellers.  Not getting FB may not matter much for IDs with couple of thousands of FBs, but for new IDs it is important.  It is also important to have good FB for items now listed, especially if several of same items were sold over the past few weeks; if nobody leaves FB for them, potential buyers may see it as suspicious.

But as others said, FB is voluntary, as a general rule I would not ask for it.  However, once, when I noticed that a new buyer, with only 1/2 dozen of FBs has never left FB to anybody, but emailed me telling me how happy she was with her item,  I explained to her that it is a good idea to leave FB, and explained how it works & how to do it.

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

I think the op is perfectly valid and  it's a request, not a command.

As a regular buyer (on another ID) I always check out feedback and do consider it valuable as a guide on who to bid with. For me it will make or break a potential sale.

This is a very good point., as that is exactly what I'm doing doing right now, searching out a particular item and carefully reading previous feedbacks   on previous sales. of it.

Now your talking Foxy, in all the years we have been collecting flybuys we have managed to purchase one fuel discount voucher, if we could use our feedback scores I may get another one in five years instead of ten :^O

Only positive feedback has any intrinsic value so be careful what you wish for.

Most of my buyers do leave feedback, I have mine set to respond automatically when it is received, as soon as it is left I archive the transactions. Once a month I go to the bottom of my list and leave feedback for any item getting near the 60 day limit as I assume if I haven't heard by then they are not unhappy. I then archive those transactions and have no idea if they reciprocate in time or not.

I think a lot of sellers miss out if they leave feedback on payment. If the buyer actually wants feedback and you have already left it then there is no incentive for them to take the time to leave it.

Of course feedback is important in this flooded market exactly for the reasons you have given.  I have close to 3000 on my selling id without a neg and still appreciate good current feedback.

Re: Buyers leaving feedback

If perfect feedback is so important how come there are so many people who come here feeling scammed and/or ripped off and are asked what they expected when we look at the dreadful state of the seller's feedback?

Good feedback is a factor in acheiving optimum sales but it is only one thing, price, postage, availability, clarity of listing and good descriptions are all probably a lot more important.
