For anyone who doesn't know, those using C & S should get a receipt from the PO. The C & S User Guide, Jan 2013, has a specific reference to this. Page 18 on the guide, last line under heading of "Lodgement", says "Items lodged over the counter or with courier pick up will receive lodgement scans". So just in case anyone is still getting the message from your PO that "we don't give receipts for something we don't sell" perhaps you can refer them to their own information and instructions. The User guide is available for printing off their own C & S website. Just Login as usual, then under "System Help" ( the photo of the pretty girl with Headphones) there is a little line that says "Download Step-By-Step User Guide". PRINT! Good Luck at waving this over the counter at your local PO.....Nicely of course.

"Items lodged over the counter or with courier pick up will receive lodgement scans"
there was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. The line from the C&S user guide that you have quoted says nothing about receipts, just that items lodged over the counter will be scanned. I guess they have been very careful with their words, and anyone waving the user agreement at the PO staff may have this pointed out to them (i.e. the agreement does not say you will receive a receipt), or, the staff may have their own copy of the agreement uder the counter for waving purpose.

I thought that the Lodgement scan was the receipt? Isn't it the same thing that will give you the proof that you have posted?

the lodgement scan is when they wave their barcode scanner over the item barcode and then it shows in tracking.
I am sure that if you found an older version of the C&S user agreement it would make mention of scanning and the issuing of a paper receipt. Continiuing to scan on lodgement but no longer issuing a receipt is a recent change.

Ok....Maybe "Receipt" is the wrong terminology. Isn't this scenario about getting something physical in your hand, to Prove that it has been posted? Would you call that a receipt? My PO just presses a button after scanning and that produces a paper printout of what has just been scanned by their handheld barcode scanner. This is what they give me and whilst it may not be a "cash" receipt as we normally associate, and they might call it a Lodgement Scan, it is nevertheless a recognition, in writing, on paper, that the item has been scanned and of course has all the information re dates, and Tracking number etc....thus acknowledging receipt of the item from me, I am very happy with that.

I found the thread form January that covered this change. At that time, not all Post Offices had stopped issuing paper receipts. I also found that you posted on that thread (post #12), so you should not be surprised by this change to the user agreement. Also, that thread has some good advice from various posters about seller protections (e.g. post #7 from catspjs). A good read for all.

I'm still getting lodgement receipts, but OP's quote doesn't contain anything that would make it mandatory; just that they have to scan it.
