To whom it may concern,
Because the big hype, regarding toilet paper, and some people buying ridiculous amounts and than try to make money out of this on ebay , is not something to exept! Please can you delete these ads? It is not fair, these people are buying so much, so other people are not able to do their normal shopping anymore!
Thank you
Kind regards A. Willems

Aldi. Try Aldi. They open about 8.30am, go in about 9am and you should be in luck. Everyone is racing into Coles & Woolies. But yesterday Aldi had stocks till 9.30am and it was all very civilised with most people calmly just taking one or two packs.
That would be why the news website had a photo of people lining up outside Aldi since 5am, with the line being over 500m long. I know I keep saying it, but people are IDIOTS. I wouldn't call many civilised at the moment, they have turned into feral animals.
Funny how 2 months ago, we were coming together as a nation, to support those affected by drought and bushfires, and now those same people are wanting to gouge each others eyes out over a product that was NEVER going to run out. Again I say, people are IDIOTS.
Gee tippy, I never saw that on the news. What can I say. I am shocked.
On Saturday when i went in at about 9.20am, there was still quite a bit left. Only one brand, Kleenex packs of 18. I'd say most people were checking out that aisle at some stage in their shop but when I walked over, there were only 2 other people there. One took one pack, the other took two. I took two, one each for each of my daughters as they have families and were running short. I thought of taking one for myself but we still have 7 rolls left.
There were a few people taking 4 packs but not many.
I honestly think the essential supplies-toilet paper, flour, etc should be limited to one per transaction if people are going to go berserk.
Plus maybe release only some at opening time and another pallet at random times during the day.
From my experience in at Aldi, I would say that when the people around you are acting calmly and moderately, as they were at our Aldi's, and not rushing the toilet paper, then others do too. If someone else picks up only one pack and walks away, it takes a tough hide to grab four, makes a person look a bit silly.
On the other hand, if you line up at 5am and see dozens of others doing the same, you feel validated.
My worry is for those who aren't mobile and maybe rely on online ordering. I think stores should put a bit away for online orders too.

Those people were apparently kicked out of the store by Management. Great to hear. Also the person who cleaned the shelves of pasta at another supermarket was told to put them all back.

2 of them were charged with affray - is it really worth going to court over toilet paper in a 'civilised' country?

I did post a reply but it appears someone took offence. The fact remains that the shelves are empty in the supermarkets. I'm down to my last roll lol so Ebay need to stop allowing these listings. They should put a blanket ban on toilet paper sales, if people want to buy it online, they can order directly from the stores for home delivery which is what I'll be having to do. Idiots

Thank you. I decided to get to the shopping centre half an hour before opening and stood at the doors, in full defensive mode, ready to take on anyone who stood between me and a roll of tp lol 😂 and it got dirty. I had to ram one woman with my trolley after she rammed me hahaha wonder I wasn't on the news. However I was triumphant and exited with 4 pkts, determined not to have to go back and do that again for a few months. But I think it had already started calming down just a touch. I just happened to call into Coles this morning at about 9.30 to get a few things and saw someone walking to the checkout with toilet paper, where last week, the morning pallet was gone by about 8.15. I think the supermarkets could have done more, and sooner, to prevent the shortage, but chose not to because they wouldn't turn away business. Check this out. Seller at weekend market

Told to put the pasta back? Excellent. Kudos to the staff who followed through there

I generally don't buy pasta because it's so easy to make and it gives me satisfaction to roll the pasta dough through my beautiful (red) Marcato Atlas machine. If there's a risk of tipo "00" flour and durum flour becoming harder to source, I might buy up some pasta... but I could just make some fresh and let it dry and store that at this stage.
Toilet paper is another issue. I don't see this becoming scarce except through people's panicking and stocking up. Am I correct in saying that the manufacture of toilet paper doesn't require any components that are likely to become hard to obtain? And that it is manufactured locally?
Some food and medicine are the major things we may find becoming genuinely hard to get. I hope that PPE manufacture ramps up at this point too, before global contagion interferes with production to a wider and more calamitous degree.

Yes - wood.
Yes - SA, NSW, VIC, WA and QLD.
I might have mentioned this before, but it's a RESPIRATORY illness, so rooms full of toilet paper just mean the idiots will not have to buy any for several years. I buy mine when it's on special, which I suspect will be in a few weeks time.

It's mainly made from wood plantations that they plant themselves so easily found.
They do use some chemicals, etc but they are generall sourced locally and stock levels are kept up.

That's the one I see as a maybe problem as a lot of things are manufactured overseas and supply might be
limited if those countries close their borders to the export of those items.
