Can i request money back from australia post for not obtaining a signature?

Just wondering

I have lodged a click and send item over the counter and received a lodgement receipt.

for one parcel it was just standard, no aditional extras. I know this item was recieved however it still shows  as in transit

the other item I paid an aditional amount for signature on delivery. and again lodged over the counter, the item for that was also recieved however it still shows up as in transit

is there a delay with australia post tracking system? or have the items not been scanned along the way. This would be concerning as I would have no proof of delivery for my items, even if i have proof of lodgement.

Many years ago for more expensive item, as well as insurence i would pay for proof of delivery, where you fill in a card that gets signed and returned back to you. and more often then not even though i paid for that service, i never ever ended up receiving the card back. I thought several times about bringing this up with australia post in the hope of getting my money back (which all up amounted to be about $10 for items that had the proof of delivery card attached) but I didnt bother as i thought it would be more of a hassle. but if the same thing is going to happen with click and send parcels then whats the point of even spending the extra money when they may not even get scanned or signature obtained anyways.

Has anyone ever tried or succeeded in obtaining refunds from Australia post for paing for a service you never recieved?

I know the eftpos was down nationwide today. Tried to post some parcels and they said no go. I didn't have time to go and get cash so they'll have to wait until tomorrow. Apparently they are changing over to Westpac terminals.

As for scanning items showing as delivered, mine are always scanned at the door / over the counter, and it can take a few days for it to show as delivered. The ones delivered to the door, it's usually the scanner beeping that wakes me up if I'm still in bed.

So ALL post offices had their EFTPOS down?  Thought it was just my local.  And yes, had to go and get cash !!

Claim for a lost item. Then they will have to come up with proof of delivery to turn it down. That might wake them up.

I have just been the LONG & DRAWN OUT  process of claiming a lost item with auspost.

I did not have insurance on the parcel, only SoD, so after literally weeks and weeks of delay, many phone calls, and along the way, an admission by auspost that the parcel had been traced as far as the Dandenong sorting office (at the recipient's end of the journey) and then disappeared, I was finally given a 'good-will' payment of $50 (half the value of the lost item). How kind of auspost (not) !!

But, of course, the lesson to learn here is, even when auspost admit liability for a loss, the only official way to claim the value of the item back, is to add insurance to the postage cost !

Them agreeing to pay a discretionary $50 good will amount to me, may have been the result of my staying power in continually ringing up and enquiring about the status of the customary enquiry I had lodged.

The issue isn't really parcels going missing, the issue for me is paying for signature on delivery, or in the past paying for proof of delivery where they send you a card back with the recipients signature, and either never receiving the card or the postie never obtaining a signature

I looked back over the years and saw that I spent roughly $10 to pay for these features but never received them.
I know with my own postie he sometimes leaves a package at the front door without even knocking when we are home. And again I paid the aditional anount when buying the item to have signature in delivery but yet they left it there without even getting my signature.

It's probably not worth the hassle but is just a little frustrating to find sometimes even when I pay for signature on delivery I don't receive that service.

Which is probably why it continues to happen.  We are too laid back in our approach to AP's non-performance.  They keep putting up their prices and do less for it - because we don't complain enough I suspect.
