Cancelled e-cheque

Sorry for what is likely a 'silly question' but I have been very lucky to have not had this problem until today

On the 25th October, a buyer paid by e-cheque for their purchase, obviously I don't send anything until payments have cleared, hower today I get an email from paypal to say the payment failed. When I log into my actual pay pal, it says the payment was cancelled

so does this just mean either the buyer has intentionally backed out of the purchase and knowingly cancelled, or that they did not have enough funds to pay and the e-cheque basically 'bounced'

OR is there something potenially amiss with my paypal account?  I have had it almost 10 years and have no 'issues' I have not recently changed any details/settings/bank account etc etc but wondered if there is something else on my end that may have caused a payment to fail and be cancelled that I should be checking as well

Have you contacted the buyer?

Cancelled e-cheque

Usually a bounced e-cheque will be presented again (2 times).

And an e-cheque usually takes 5-7 days to attempt clearance.

So it is possible that either PayPal or buyer has cancelled payment.

Message the buyer and ask if you haven't already.

And if you don't get a reply from the buyer soon you can always call PayPal.

I find them very helpful over the phone.
