Just going through last night's sales, and found that a buyer has purchased an item and specified a size that wasn't offered in the listing (and doesn't exist).
So, I need to cancel the order and refund the buyer. Should be simple enough - but, this is eBay....
Clicking on "Cancel Order" takes me to a page which asks me to select the reason for the cancellaion, and gives me three options, none of which apply in this instance:
1) Doesn't apply - I have plenty of stock in the three sizes offered in the listing. And, of course, if I select this item, I cop a defect
2) Doesn't apply - Buyer hasn't asked to cancel the order
3) Doesn't apply - Delivery address isn't relevant in this case
So, instead of just selecting "Other", and specifying a reason, I now have to contact the buyer, get them to request the order cancellation, then respond to the request, etc, etc.
Whole bunch of red tape and jumping through hoops for something that should be simple.
Anyone know of an easier way to do it?

If the buyer hasn't asked to cancel, why are you cancelling? Can't you just contact the buyer and ask them what size they want, specifying the sizes you have? If you still need to cancel, use the buyer requested option. It's a safe one (usually!).

The three sizes we have available are all in the listing - three different heights. He wants a different width, which I don't have (and which doesn't exist in that product range), hence the need to cancel...

as tippy said contact buyer and get them to agree to cancel first
