IE is well known on the boards for it's glitches with eBay (and other sites), you'd be better of using either Firefox or Chrome.
I've only used IE once on this computer, and that was to download both Firefox and Chrome.

Could it be a push to get rid if Internet Explorer and conn everyone into using the intrusive Chrome ?
When talking to eBay help the first thin that is rcomended is "use Chrome" is it a coincidence?

It's not really a con when that browser (and Firefox) works better for eBay.

Do you think that eBay should be the standard for judging browser by?

Maybe not but if IE is a known problem with eBay then you must decide yourself whether to continue using it or switch to a better browser, or search the internet for some ideas on how to tweak it.
Myself, I'd never use it unless I had to.

Only if you are using eBay, which you apparently are.
If IE doesn't work on eBay, which it doesn't, use another browser. If you're afraid of google, use Firefox. My preference is Firefox and, like padi, I only use IE to download a useful browser.

It was announced some years ago that ebay was no longer going to support IE and it was suggested that members change to Firefox or Chrome. That was before Edge even existed.
I changed to Firefox and have never had a problem.
IE seems to work better on the boards than it does with the buying/bidding section of ebay but if it starts to play up it just cannot be fixed and you need to change browsers.
No matter what you think eby should be doing about IE, the fact is that they no longer support it and you need to change browsers.

Could be a slight problem if you then can't download a different browser.

Not my problem if someone wants to ignore the advice that was given years ago.
Does anyone only have one browser these days anyway?
