Assuming there is tracking going by the info for the new policy it shouldn't count as a defect if tracking shows the order was posted within the sellers handling time or delivered within the estimated delivery time.

The events of today provides a good case study about why I am nervous about the late postage penalties coming next year.

Two buyers have contacted me saying their items have not arrived.  Both items were paid for on Sunday 6 September and both were posted as larger letters (no tracking) on Monday 7th, within my stated 1 day handling time.  Both went to NSW towns with eBay's estimated delivery between 9-11 Sept.  Both are now one working day overdue.  Both buyers stated they would not have paid the additional $4 for tracked registered post.

From experience, the items will turn up in the next few days and the buyers will be OK.  If it was 2016, they will confirm late arrival once prompted by eBay and I will get hit with two slaps.  And this is just one day in the life of a CD seller.

If they have contacted where is my item contact then you wil already have a defect under existing conditions.

The problem with "batches" going astray is that the lower allowance for defects will give less margin

Question is if ebays prepaid label tracking uploaded is counted as a lodgement event, or will it have to be actual counter lodgement scan. If not then the system promoted by Ebay/AP does not comply. The whole point of AP introducing these systems is to keep people out of needing to go to POs. This new requirement is going to push them back in.

try to tell sellers to send tracking details as soon as posible

Thats not enough, I upload tracking details as soon as packed. but unless it is recorded handed to post office/courier it means nothing. If its posted in the post box outside your front door doesn't count.

Same day shipping will mean a trip to AP(or pick up) EVERYDAY. Even then it means item may have to wait until next days trip.

If someone in same city buys something from me before 6pm they are most likely to receive it next day. If i have to go to AP it may be once or twice a week (with 30-40 parcels..ugh). Handling would have to be quoted as 5 days, it could take them a week to recieve it..How can you explain that to them? Interstate 2 weeks.

AP are going to be miffed when all these Ebay sellers are bringing in barrow loads of parcels. When they thought they had steamlined the process.

Perhaps AP may want to lean on Ebay about this as it is going to make their work harder

Handling large numbers of parcels is not too bad once you and your local PO have systems in place. The following may help some-one.

I use a large suitcase on wheels to take parcels into the PO, or on bigger days, load direct from the car into the Post office rear doors ( tradies entrance ).  I pre sort everything with International large letters & parcels first on top of the heap. Then comes Australian delivery large letters, Large Australian parcels and finally pre paid satchels to be scanned in.

The PO staff use seperate screens on their computers for each class of mail so having them pre sorted speeds up handling. They process the international items first and then just quickly weigh large letters, sorting them into heaps by weight and print out labels in bulk. I stick the labels on while the PO staff attend to heavier parcels. Once completed I pay with a credit card specifically set aside for mail only.

After this I place pre paid satchels on the desk, bar codes all facing PO staff and they wheel a trolly over and quickly scan them, dropping them straight in the trolly. Finally printing out a lodgement reciept. This all works pretty efficiently and takes maybe ten minutes all up.

The option for leaving other than positive feedback for buyers has not been available for at least 7 years, so why is it an issue now?
