Er, did I read correctly that in 2013 we are all being forced to offer free postage, or our items will be very low in the rankings? Seriously??

This store upgrade is a bit rude...
Last time they upgraded the basic store from $19.95 to $24.95 highlighting the new features that Featured Stores used to have access to so it was alright value for the $5 increase.
But this is just greedy... Double the price for no extra benefit...

That's part of what they gamble on... there isn't many other alternatives and they know it...
They have the market covered so are happy to gouge us sellers for whatever they can get away with.

Totally agree with ausfast. I haven't even looked at the changes yet but from what I am reading here I dont think I want to know. ebay was once a great selling & buying experience now it is all about the rich gettin richer & the greedy gettin greedier...ebay you should be ashamed. Its all us little people that helped build your empire.

Will eBay allow sellers to state "postage is included in the price" instead of offering "free postage" because for me to be forced to use the term "free postage" is not honest?

Scepticism aside, I think Ebay are trying to simplify and streamline.
I don't see how increasing a single price is streamlining anything except the path to the door (and possibly out of eBay altogether) for alot of sellers. The response here seems that over 50% of store owners don't like this process. eBay have tried to market it using typical marketing jargon but the fact is that the decision (so far) has alienated a good deal of sellers. If that was their goal, it's been achieved. They may aswell raise it too $100 and just get rid of normal store owners, though I figure they probably don't have the interest from proper businesses (e.g. like those in a shopping mall) to make anything more than $50 feesable. When they do have that interest, say goodbye to the local Joe or Jane if they want a store - they won't be able to afford it.
There are plenty of ways to simplify... that wasn't eBay's goal with this price hike, it seems.
