Does anyone understand the effect of changing store subscriptions level mid month? Do you immediately change to the different level, or is it just for the following calendar month?

It becomes effective straight away. If it's a downgrade to a lower store level you'll also receive a credit at the end of the month fpr the part of the month it happened (I think - I won't know for sure till tomorrow :-))

Anyone know what happens if you were a casual seller and then upgrade to a store? Do the 40 free listings you already made for the month (as a casual seller) get incorporated into the 80 store listings, or do the complete 80 listings be made available when you opened the store (so you would effectively have 120 free listings for the month you opened the store)?

I think they get counted into the 80 store listings. Trying to sort this out too -wife said it was too confusing or her so left me to deal with it !! And yes it is confusing.
She opened a basic one the other day. listed about 30 since opening and today it told her she was reaching her limit !!
So wrong !! eg. ist may -use 30 -well now 40 free. 7th of may pay to relist another 40. 14/15th open a store AND PAY and BAM -Sorry -you have already listed 80 ??????
But don't ask me -trying to sort it all myself too !!!!!

I downgraded my store to basic at the end of April. I queried Live Chat as to why I was still being charged the old FVF. They said the FVF at time of listing was the one that applied. They also said they would get their supervisor to ring me before COB today. I said if it didn't happen (and it didn't) I would be talking to the ACCC.
In my case my FVF has gone down by 0.4%. A piddly amount. Nevertheless, eBay have advertised a (marginally) reduced rate and not applied it.

They always do that - the FVF is calculated and shown to you at the time you list so it would be false advertising for them to change it after. It doesn't go up or down until the next cycle (so it cuts both ways - my FVF on all categories went up from 7% to 8.5%, but all listings created or that ticked over before the increases and sold after the increase were charged at 7%).

This is the first time I've ever had a reduction, d*g. And I've never had an increase in FVF, just store fees for the same service.
It matters not, The way it's advertised is that any sales after 1 May, with a basic store, attract a 9.5% FVF. The are charging me 9.9%; they are in breach as far as I'm concerned. I will let the ACCC determine whether the lack of fine print justifies them overcharging.

There is no fine print, correct. It's highlighted in a big yellow box at the top of the page. :8}

That wasn't there last time I looked. I suspect I'm not the only one who kicked up a stink about it.
