Chienese scammers on Ebay AU

Australian ebayers have a lot of regulations put on us to protect the buyers, which is not a bad thing, although a pain. Like I am sure a lot of you do I spend a fair bit of time searching Ebay keep am eye on prices, looking for ideas and grabbing a bargain every now and then. Most days I stumble across a obvious Chinese scammer. They usually have a quick made up name often only random numbers the accounts are usually a year or more old but have very few transactions on them and the one they have are clearly for low cost items.

The last one I stumbled on has sold about 65 items at about $50 each items that normally sell for $100-$150 and way below even wholesale prices I am sure he/she will sell plenty more before account is closed. It does not make sense to me a) why people buy from them I have always lived by the saying 'If it seems too good to be true, it probably is' Now I am not talking about sellers whose items may or may not be real but those who not only should warning bells be going off but the man who strikes the bells, with a hammer, should be smashing you on the head.

Why is something not done about these sellers at least make them play by the same rules we have to. It breaks my heart knowing hundreds of people are getting excited at the moment about the absolute bargain they have found but in reality they will be starting 2016 disappointed as the seller will be banned by then and they will be claiming the money back through paypal and that is just from this 1 scammer I am sure there are plenty more out there taking advantage of the Chritsmas Joy

Although I hate scammers, there is only so much Ebay will, or in some cases can, do. Sometimes buyers have to take some responsibility to research what they are buying and take their own risks. Sometimes buyers have to learn their own lessons after being scammed so they will be more careful in the future.

When a seller is selling on the AU site but actually registered on the CN site then eBay.AU are unable to take any action against that seller because they are outside AU jurisdiction. All they can do is to pass any buyer reports to eBay.CN and it's up to them to take any action.
So eBay.AU probably don't pass on the complaints and even if they did then unless it's very serious eBay.CN are unlikely to do anything. Hence they get away with their scamming activities.
These sellers are aware of these rules and of course play these rules to their best advantage.
So it really is a case of buyer beware. As long as you use PayPal to pay for your purchase you will get your money back, but the scammer will get the money of course. They will eventually be shut down as PayPal will be losing too much money, but they will just start up again under a new id and continue on doing it.

Clarry, quite often the buyers don't get their money back because the scammers list in a category that has no buyer protect, like pocket bikes. Some buyers know to push the issue with PayPal and they will eventually refund, but others will take the first answer of no, there is no buyer protection, therefore no refund and chalk it up to experience.

The quick made up name is due to having too many members,(so they have to use numbers to create an

ID that they can use.

Gullible members will still buy these items if they are from a seller that seems to have a "profesional"

looking listing,(they often don't look at the feedback number except for the 100% till the negs hit).

Chinese sellers follow the same rules as us but they often have a "manager" appointed to them,(who

is also Chinese and their job is to make certain the seller can keep selling).

Their Trust & Safety often ignore reports as that would impact those sellers,(their T & S is the one

responsible for having the listings removed and they are failing in that job).

wow that took 2 weeks to ban him/her at the last count I made last night they had sold over 700 items(a lot for multiple items) each at $50 that's $35,000+ and a LOT of very unhappy people

Last night found another one this one is only selling things for $27-$30 so they may only make $20k

all I can say is ebay/paypal make to much profit to allow this

These scammers are professionals. As soon as they get NARU'd, they create or hijack another account and start all over again. For every one that's closed down, another 5 take their place.

I am not surprised wish I could make $35k in 2 weeks (that is if that was the only account he was scamming with) Ebay is making it easy for them that account had a very low rating 36  had only sold 2 things in the last month yet he/she was allowed to make 700+ sales for a value of $35k+ in 2 weeks that is 700 potential customers who are very unlike to shop on Ebay ever again.

The last one I spotted has a rating of  57 and has 4 negs from 6 months a go. This one does not seem as brazen as the last one but they are selling stuff way below wholesale price and is 100% a scammer lets see if they get a free hand.

In any business there is going to be a certain amount of loses but to me this is like having a B+M store and leaving the doors open at night and your only security is a sign saying 'we leave the doors open because most people are honest will the dishonest people please stay out'
