Just putting through a label today, and there's only two options for delivery instructions?!?!

There used to be heaps.

There's only two options now, None, and leave somewhere secure out of the weather.

What happened to leave a card if premises unattended?

AP contractors do ignore Do Not Safe Drop stickers on occasions - and I for one am glad. Unless the item I'm buying is of some fantastically high value, I'd rather it was delivered to my letterbox or if it didn't fit, left in an agreed place. I find it hard to get to my local post office (parking is hell) plus I have to take time off work so if AP are going to do more safe drops I'm all for it. Sign/registered delivery is a hassle if I'm not there to collect the parcel so I try to avoid sellers that use it.

It makes sense to use registered mail (or whatever is going these days) for expensive purchases, but there have been times I've had to take time off work, drive round and round the shops looking for a parking space then stand in a long queue (agony if you have osteoarthritis) for a $10-20 item.  Grrrrrrr.  No more!

I do hear you. BUT, if it is left and gets stolen. Who do you blame?

I would guess the seller and would demand another be sent.

If you are one who would not blame the seller thats great.

But I am sorry most buyers will always blame the seller and we are the ones out of pocket.

I for one will always leave a "Do not safe drop" sticker or similar on all parcels I send that do not require a signature.

I DO NOT TRUST Aus Post any more.

Am I missing something here isn't there a tracking number with click & send? shouldn't that be enough?

No, the tracking number is not enough because it will shows as scanned and delivered. As far as C&S are concerned, that parcel was delievered to the buyer. If you want them to trace it, you need to have paid for the siggie.

Have just been through this. The postie ignored the red safe drop sticker, didn't knock on the house door (customer was home at the time), satchel was left in the rain ontop of a broken mail box at the side of the street.

That tracking number shows as 'delivered'. C&S say there is nothing they can do (l asked).

C&S have also told me that its a 'glitch' and they are awaiting the technical team to work it out.

Believe it if you will. Dosen't sound like an issue that would take any decent IT mob more than a week to sort out.

zanadoo_56, why don't you get parcels delivered to work?

I'm in complete agreement with dickos - I will always add a Do Not Safe Drop sticker or message to parcels, unless I have been given written instructions from a customer about where the parcel can be left. In which case, they take responsibility if the parcel goes missing.

No I don't blame the seller (though I've had my suspicions about some 'oriental' purchases....and there was one other OS seller who addressed the parcel so badly that Aust Post couldn't work out who it was supposed to go to so in the end they sent it back...by sea). 😮  I have a good spot for leaving parcels, though occasionally I get a new (or possibly slack) contractor who doesn't play the game....so I don't hesitate to complain to Aust Post.  Happily most of the time things are fine, though I thought the contractor who left a parcel 'in the usual place' when clearly I was home was being a bit silly.  He had more to do leaving it, than simply knocking on my door.  Very odd.

I wish I could get my parcels delivered to work but it is not permitted - and knowing how slow the mail can be just from one office to another, goodness knows when I'd get those US purchases. It is already a bit of a lottery when it comes to delivery times.

I love it.

They increase the C&S fees and then take delivery instructions away.

Genius.

What a joke...

Waited for an AP parcel... overdue... enquired at the post office... no trace of it... tracking number showed it was posted... after that... nothing... puzzle to all!

I paid for a registered parcel, signature required.

Turned up later that day, no signature obtained, just put in my letter box by the postman with the ordinary mail, (I was home and saw him put it in the box).

Guess it slipped down the back of the AP couch.
