I know that this was just posted recently, but I cannot find the relevant post, so was wondering if someone could please help me to locate it.
I thought that I read that rather than writing the postcode next to the tracking number on the receipt when lodging a C&S parcel over the counter that the PO staff could select option 5 or 6 on some drop down menu on their system and this would insert the postcode next to the relevant tracking number.
Perhaps I have not read the post correctly (highly likely - I confess to skimming it at the time) but when I tried to explain this to the PO today, I was told that this couldn't be done on pre paid C&S. only on those parcels being paid for over the counter.
Could someone please clarify this for me or help me to locate the relevant posts and conversation?
Thanks

crikey*mate, I think the PO can only select to enter a postcode if you are using your own packaging, not the flat-rate satchels/boxes which are paid for online. Ask the PO to process it as Click & Send Regular after they enter the weight and postcode, then it will scan using the C&S tracking number.
When you lodge any prepaid C&S flat-rate satchels and boxes the PO will scan them and you will receive a lodgement receipt with the description of the item (eg Flat Rate Satchel 500g) and tracking number on it. There is no postcode printed on the receipt.

No postcode required when using C&S.
The receipt shows the tracking number and you can add that info to the paypal account by opening the payment and pick add tracking info so it is on record with paypal if the buyer opens not received dispute.
The receipt from AP has the tracking number on it and states
Please retain as proof of lodgment.
That is all the proof you need.

Hi sportandplay,
May I please clarify the information that you have provided?
Are you saying that I need to use my own packaging (even if it is an unprocessed flat rate product) and pay at the time of lodgement? During this process I ask the PO to process it as C&S following their input of weight and postcode.
Will this procedure give me C&S flat rate prices?
Will this then give me a C&S tracking number and label etc - or will I still need to write out the address details as no label will be printed?
Or do you mean process at home as usual getting the label and get the PO to enter weight and postcode, then they select some option processing the item as C&S enabling them to then scan my parcel with the label and tracking number I have printed out at home?
I'm not sure what benefits there would be in this other than the postcode being printed on the receipt. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just use regular satchels which do that anyway?
The benefit for me using C&S from home are that I can pay for the postage directly from my PayPal account and have tracking information instantly available for my customers, even though this privilege costs about an extra 50c on a 500g parcel than Regular Post. I anticipate that in the event of a non receipt claim that it will be easier to provide proof of postage etc to PayPal as the tracking number associated with the postcode and address is already in my system and I just need to provide the receipt of proof of lodgement.
I'm just not too certain what the big deal is about C&S anymore except for the above.
I currently lodge my C&S parcels as you describe in Paragraph two, but I have been manually entering the Post Code number next to the tracking number myself at lodgement. Not really sure why except for I must have read it on here somewhere that it was a good idea LOL - to me I don't understand why it is necessary considering the details and paper trail created by the C&S electronic paper trail.
But hey, if I read about it on eBay, it must be correct, right? LOLOL
Thanks for your help. Hopefully as I mull it over it will make a bit more sense.

If you select Own Packaging in C&S the labels are printed straight away and then postage is paid at the PO. Standard postage rates apply, not the flat-rate prices.
Flat-rate postage for satchels and boxes has to be paid online and when scanned at the PO you will receive a lodgement receipt with no postcode. All records are in C&S so there really is no need to write anything on your receipt. I file the lodgement receipts and with copies of the day's sales printouts.

Thanks sportandplay, that makes sense. The penny has now dropped.
apart from the 500g satchel which works out around 50c cheaper to post, the advantages of C&S flat rate postage are still the way to go, eh?

I think you mean my post at http://community.ebay.com.au/topic/Selling/Warning-Australia-Post/500165062?ts=1371707218816
I was talking about regular post in my own boxes, not C&S/Satchels. Sorry, I should have mention it in my post.
