SHC I had another word to Centrelink the other day just to be sure about things as I am also a carer [for my mum who is blind].
You & I are probably selling from different points of view, I am selling personal & family belongings from 3 generations of our family. Your items are new & therefore purchased for resale. CL consider that 'earnings'.
If this is correct, in centrelinks eyes, you are actually 'running a business', & will need to keep records of all business overheads, profits, postage, pertrol, ebay/paypal fees etc. I only have to let them know what monies I have in my account & when that reaches a certain [quite high] limit, or starts creating too much bank interest, is it is then going to affect my payment.
I will most likely still have to pay PERSONAL TAX on the money I recieve [which I'd already paid tax on to purchase MY belongings years ago....so they get you twice]. I have yet to cross reference with Centrecare for clarification on this point - you can request assistance on taxation matters at Centrecare.
For me this is not a business, it is a necessity [sadly] & CL don't deem this as earnings per say, but the taxation dept probably views it differently.
LOL you'd think we were on the same level on Gina Rhinehart some days wouldn't you.

murray_collector once your turnover reaches $20,000 ebay will pass your details on to the ATO & Centrelink. The level was lowered a couple of years ago and who knows what it will be next year.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?

Just a reminder to any who are closing their stores - please be sure to unsubscribe from Selling Manager Pro as well - it comes as an automatic freebie with your store, but is a seperate thing and doesn't end automatically when you close it.
