I live in the bush and buy all my clothes on ebay. Increasingly I have been buying from the US ebay. Why? Because aussie sellers can't be bothered to put any details on their listings (pat on the back to those who do, you are in the minority). I'm a tall woman so pants inseams are essential. Measurements are essential, we can't just pop down to the shops to try on various brands. Lots of listings have no details at all, useless! Some listings have a mass of "buyer rules" but no details on their items! I've given up sending messages asking for basic information, too painful, and many sellers don't even bother to reply. Oh and by the way, new without tags does not mean "only worn once or twice". I've received clothes that should be car wash rags with a tags put on with a safety pins (not even the same brand). There is more competition in the US so sellers have to put all the details on their listings. Come on aussie sellers, make your listings count and get those sales, my backspace key is wearing out!

But but but........
I put in loads of details: fabric composition, garment care, measurements- yet my listings don't attract huge crowds at all!
And when I look at other sellers listings of similar items I see higher starting prices, lousy photos, no description at all when it's been listed by iPhone, and most galling of all, their stuff sells!!

Willing is not enough; we must do."

If sellers list their items with us "bush dwellers" in mind, they'd make more of an effort I think. I have a pub and post office - that's it! Thanks to the replies from the "good sellers" - hopefully others have taken the hint.

It's not easy for me to find clothes that fit either. I agree about buying from the US. Saw a discounted dress on eBay with lots of measurements, figured it would fit so I bought it. I've now bought 5 more in the same style and size then some nice tops...and I now buy directly from their website. I've never had so much clothing at the same time! ๐

I always give inside and outside leg measurements for pants, I also give relaxed and stretched measurements for anything that is stretchy consequently I have very few people complain things don't fit and that small number usually admit they didn't bother to check.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.

I really like to know the brand and size on the label, too often sellers say "it should fit a 22 to 26" but won't state the actual size on the garment.
I often look on ebay to buy more of the same I bought in a B&M, so really only need the brand and size.
Its the same with shoes, I only want another pair in a style I already own so only want the brand and size.
I do wish more sellers would state if a fabric is a stretch knit, mechanical stretch or woven non stretch.
I really don't like clothes that are mechanical stretch but want stretch knits.

I am a clothes seller, and have been on eBay for 10+ years, and have thousands of feedbacks.
But I do not put measurements on listings. Why? Because the majority of people don't read them anyway. I used to, and had people wanting to return items because "they didn't fit" or emailing to request measurements that were clearly stated on the listings.
When I stopped putting the measurements, I found no difference in the amount of sales, or total the items sold for, and I had less people wanting to return items because "they didn't fit".
The amount of time it took me to measure and add the information to the listings, wasn't worth it. Looking at it as a time vs extra profit...it makes no sense for me to do it.
If someone emails and asks measurements, I am happy to reply promptly with the measurements. That's not a problem. But I'm not going to waste my time doing measurements when I've found it makes no difference to finishing prices.
In saying that, the majority of my items are well known brands that have consistent sizing, Country Road, Witchery, Decjuba, Zimmermann. I will state if the item is a small or large fit or if the size is inconsistent. For example, Zimmermann is a small fit, Decjuba doesn't have a great deal of bust room in their silk dresses - but people who buy and wear these brands already know that!
I do state the brand, size, fabric, washing instructions, condition and have clear photos.
But taking an extra 10 to 15 mins per item to measure and add onto my auction, it's just not worth it.
I have a clearance of about 80% to 90% of my auctions, so I can't see that adding measurements will do anything but take up more of my time.

How on earth do you claim it takes a long time to add measurements? I have a table in my listing template and it takes seconds to take the measurement and input the figures.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I feel the same way. Shopping is very limited when I am as well so I do most of my clothes buying online as well.
Simple measurement's are all that's needed. Buyers are not physic we need key information.
Absolute Kudo's and thanks for those sellers that actually can be bothered to go that little extra- you rock!!!! ๐
