Hello I have been a regular seller on eBay for over 3 Years and along with the trials and tribulations it has been a lot of fun, and has kept my wife and I very busy, and we love it, now after receiving my Highest bill from eBay ever I was momentarily in shock, the Fees have made it not so much fun any more with the Commission up as well, to nearly 10% why don't they just make it 10% and be done with it.
I have to cut back now as the cost is obviously too high.
After the 40 free Listings, if I put an item on starting at $5 0r $6.00 and it doesn't sell then it has cost me a $1.50, (Is that right)? then it is not worth putting on so then I ask myself are most of the items I put on worth putting on , the Answer is no, if you go to an Auction you don't pay handling fees if the item doesn't sell.
eBay has become greedy and they don't care about the little People like us, and they wouldn't care if we packed up and left, just like the Post Office cut out the 200gram Postage charges.
I know People who only put on 40 items a Month and no more, and I know People who don't bother anymore, out of our 36 Favourite Sellers there is hardly anybody who has items listed.
I am Considering looking at Gumtree, and there is another I heard about recently, they have to be Cheaper than eBay.
If eBay cared about their Customers they would do a Nationwide Survey to find out what we want, if I was in charge I would scrap all this free listings crap and make every item to list 50cents, isn't that so simple, no matter how cheap or expensive the item is, and People would come back, and we would go back to enjoying what we do.

The situation has NEVER gone this far before.....change is on the horizon.
Sorry, but I have to disagree.
Dozens and dozens of times over the years changes to ebay have seen sellers stomping their feet and declaring this will be the end, but it hasn't come yet, and I doubt this change will be the catalyst either.

I've had some of my regular selling items listed on these other free sites as well for over three months. The result: no sales and barely 20-25 pages vies for these items. The traffic on these other sites is just not good enough to even contemplate leaving eBay.
And now a question I have is, why are the listing defies for storand on non-store accounts in the USA so much cheaper? We seem to be paying so more in Australia. They pay a maximum of 25cents for auctions under their store accounts, yet we are up for $1.50. Any answers would be appreciated as it baffles me.

Be careful what you wish for, the US also charges FVFs on the total cost including postage so pardon me if I hope they do NOT standardise fees on both sites!

listing there is cheaper because their fvf are higher, because they have to pay fvf on their postage charge too, AND they must accept paypal, they cannot offer any bank deposit.
so if yr selling items where the postage is about the same or similar to the item, say a $15 dish with $11.50 postage, you pay fvf on the $26.50 and then paypal on the $26.50
\NO thank YOU eBay, lets keep ebay aussie as it is

I thought selling fees were high but it is worth looking at your latest invoice. It is in a new format and gives you a breakdown of your fees and what they are as a percentage to your sales. In my case 10%. That is very cheap.

In other posts PJ you have indicated that you predominately do free post anyway ?? so ?? unsure exactly why you take such issue with the US fee model

I use free postage on most of my my store items because they are BIN and I know exactly how much to add to cover the postage+ fvf on it. On my other selling ids for second hand items they are not fixed price and I charge for postage, it would not do my profit margins any favours if I had to pay an extra fvf on all those sales.
Many of those who keep complaining about listing being cheaper on other sites do not offer free postage so would probably be much better off with the Aus fee structure, especially if they post heavy items and post overseas.

So you hope we don't get US fee structure here, even though it may have potential to benefit you as a seller ?
Awwww..... what a lovely altruistic opinion you hold
:-p.

How on earth would it benefit me to increase my fees?

If the potential seller savings that are offered on US ebay site don't float your boat, good and well.
? Though, not quite sure how your fees would increase under that model?
I would think any increase in FVF inclusion, would be more than offset by the very, very low cost of auctions 30c (without store) - 25c (basic) - 15c (premium) and the high level of free listings for either format that goes with stores, starting with 150 free listings for a basic store.
Whilst the top rated seller status might be considered to be a crock, I do admit I would be delighted to receive the US 20% discount on my FVF for being a top rated seller
