Confused about inconsistent price

I am going to sell a similar item so checking the competion I found this: 151454983187, selling for $94.99, but an identical item selling for $4.99 by the same seller. ?.

At first I thought it was a typo but a search of completed listings show one had been sold? Plus there are a heap of watchers. What am I missing?

Re: Confused about inconsistent price

Sometimes sellers inflate the price when their stock levels get down close to being sold out. They do this so we don't lose sales history and search position. Just send the seller a message. As you can see from the sales history the normal sale price is 4.99

Thanks for that! I just couldn't figure it out, I mean great boobs and all but the top isn't that spesh ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also valuable selling info! So does that mean if the listing ends you lose the search position? Should I be making my listings neverending or whatever its called?

Re: Confused about inconsistent price

well that's the thinking. That because you retain the history your item remains closer to the top of the search pile.

Re: Confused about inconsistent price

I should also add ebay have not long ago implemented a new out of stock feature where when you completely sell out of your item, your listing will retain the sales history but you listing becomes invisible in searches. With the above your listing is still visible so buyers can still put it on their watch list.

You will find as soon as the seller gets more stock they will revise the listing and return it to the original price.
