how would you know who is watching? how would you enforce your policy?

One of the items I have been watching, I thought was too expensive. 30 days
later it was re-listed at a higher price! How do they figure the 'watcher' is going
to fall for that one? Now I'm watching out of curiousity

how ironic everyone's watching one of my items!

Well tara I am watcher as well (sometimes) we keep an eye on it for a few reasons wheather its the price, style, where it's made from or materials, or it's local or overseas. The fact ebay will never remove "watchers" hence why it creates my watch list. Ebayers will add me to there favorite sellers list which is better than watching all they have to is subcribe and that way they be informed whats comming in.
And I do list on gumtree which has one distinct advantage over ebay you can create your on watch list and "watchers" are not shown.

Sometimes I end up on ebay when I am simply researching topics/products via search engines, it might be the text or the image that is applicable. In any case (for me) it is no different than bookmarking a link. People bookmark for all kinds of reasons, just like they add something to their watch list. Am not sure why some people put so much 'value' on watchers. At the end of the day it doesn't necessarily equate to a sale, nor do views and nor do people asking questions. Heck even actual winning bids do not always equate to a sale!! ๐

I have lots of BIN items usually listed with multiple quantities. I Love Watchers, there are 9 watchers on my 19 auctions as I write this. Costs me nothing and remains on their Watchlist even after the 10 day auction has ended and I've relisted.
So, please watch my items, please, please, please.
Best wishes
Robert

I have about 18 pages of watched items and a lot of them are buy it now.
I have no intention of buying any of them.
Often i put them there just so i have a link to the photo or the name of the seller or as a price guide.
Sometimes they are there just for ideas. For example, my daughter recently married and I must have saved about 50 photos of different bonbonniere boxes to show her. As it turned out, she ended up giving something entirely different anyway.
The trouble is, if you see an item you might have an interest in watching, for any reason at all, and you don't put it in your watched list straight away, it can be really hard to find it again.
But a watcher is always a potential buyer-no seller should worry about having them.

Watching is window shopping; pure and simple.
As catpjs has already mentioned, I'm happy to have multiple watchers on my items, it means they have found me and honestly that is the name of the game on ebay these days.
My watch list is a wish list incase hubby stumbles upon it to get some pressie ideas, LOL.
