Damage dress - why is my topic locked now?

I recently put up a topic about a dress that a buyer damaged and wants a refund for. But for some reason it's now locked?

I wanted to update it. But I can't? Anyone know why it would be locked?

The Mods usually post an explanation of why they are locking a thread so I wondered the same thing.

I suspect that it may have been locked as it was wandering Off Topic towards the end.

You could always post the update here with a link to the locked thread for anyone who wants to read it.

Ahh ok. Weird.

Well here is the link to the original thread for anyone interested.

My update is, I actually didn't receive the dress back like I thought. I just assumed that was what had arrived when I saw a box very similar to the one I sent sitting on my kitchen table. I didn't actually look at it. I just got annoyed . Shame on me for assuming.

So I guess I just have submit all my evidence and wait and see what happens.

I feel like a bit of an idiot. It pays to be sure before posting something doesn't it! The whole thing has just got me absolutely rattled.

I do understand the being rattled up part.....I am in the process of having a rattling experience myself as I type.

Gather what evidence you can, submit it and hope for the best. Then future listings make sure you have lots of photos of everything, even if all the photos don't appear on the listing. I try and learn from bad experiences like this so hopefully no-one else can try and swindle me.

Hang in there!

Not fun is it?! I too learn from things, and this I'm sure will teach me a thing or two. I just don't know what they are yet 🙂
But I wish us both luck! I don't like being taken for a ride.

Me either!

I think one of the great advantages of these forums is, we can all share our (bad) experiences which helps other sellers out too. That can only be a good thing I think!

I solved my initial issue by not offering international postage any more, but I'm sure someone else out there will find a loop hole in my listings where they feel they can swindle me. The big issue is, trying to get buyers to read the (whole) ad and that was one of the issues with my recent experience. By her emails, she clearly hadn't read ANY of the ad!

It just makes it so hard doesn't it.

And I'm not a business. I just sell the odd thing that I no longer want or need. But everything I do sell is in really good condition. If it wasn't I would take it to Vinnies instead of selling.

I've bought more than I've sold though and I haven't ALWAYS received a perfect product. But in that case I just resell it rather than give the seller grief. Buying second hand stuff online is a risk and if you're not willing to take the risk, I say go to a brick and mortar store.

It's all perception anyway isn't it? I mean, what one person thinks is good quality, another person may not agree. We are describing products based on our own perceptions because that's all we can do. And that is the reason I have other people look at the items I do sell. I then also have them look at my description. Because my perception may be different to someone elses.

I've only had one bad experience. This one. And I hate it. I'm seriously considering only selling to locals who can pick it up. I really do not want to have to go through this again.

Don't chuck in the towel just yet. Don't let one hard to please buyer ruin it for you. Look at all your buyers that have done the right thing and have been happy with what they bought. I nearly threw in the towel on the weekend due to a bad experience with a buyer. Then I thought, it's one buyer. I have had the odd non payer, but even that hasn't been stressful. Open case, close it, relist. Majority of my buyers are decent honest people that try to do the right thing.

Like you, I am just offloading stuff I bought a few years back, that I bought with good intentions. I realised after so many years that my intentions were never going to happen, so figured I may as well see if someone else can enjoy them. Plus I'm listing a few things here and there of my collections that I have multiples of.
