Hi all
The Defect Rate I believe also applys if you refund the buyer his money.. My Defect Rate currently stands at 2.07% and I believe this will come into effect 20th August 2014 when I will lose my Top Rated Seller status to Above Standard. I am trying to get it to 2.00% but yesterday I sold an item which I have been relisting for well over 12 months and cannot find it anywhere, The price was only $3.00 so about 60 cents in fees to Ebay and Paypal. I refunded the buyer his money but using Paypal "Send Money" option instead of the refund option to his email address. Now I dont mind loosing the Fees to Ebay and Paypal. Could this still affect my Defect Rate???
Thank You

I just looked at my defect report and was horrified to see listed 4 low seller ratings from 1 buyer, this was a lipstick which she left positive feedback.. maybe it was not the colour she was expecting.
This has now dropped me from Top Rated Seller to Above???
On reading the info Ebay provides on the page it said that 1 buyer's low seller rating can only rate as 1...not 4 as they have put againt my account????
How can 1 buyer..who by the way left positive feedback cause me to loose my Top Seller Rating?? This is out of a total of 246 sold items total. I don't understand?
I will of course be contacting Customer Service to find out if this is an error.
Could more experienced sellers let me know if is this is correct..

Did they leave them all at once, or a week apart? If they're a week apart, they would all count. Sellers that I regularly buy off, I'll often leave feedback a week apart so they all count. They do the same for me.

The report states it was an 1 x item number and states 4 on that 1 sale.
the other was a canclled item which was due to a dummy bidder. which I should have gone through resolution but did not. At that time I had no idea no seller fee reimbursement and I DEFECT on my record.
I will contact Ebay soon to find out why

only items PURCHASED a week apart count, those purchased on one day only count as 1 no matter when you leave the fb

I have refunded both in full and partial ansd they are not showing as defects. The only ones that are showing are one swhere I stated out of stock, damaged etc.
Though Ebay seem to be inconsistant with this atthe moment. So are being defected through no fault and others are not.
Multiple defects for one sale may show on your reports but they should not compound in the total. Add up the individual scores and see if they tally with the total.

I've had multiple purchases over a few days where I have left feedback a week apart and they have counted as separate feedback. A glitch maybe? I've checked the feedback amount before and after leaving said feedback and it has increased by one each time. Weird!
