I used this a lot to gauge what a fair price was to put on listings, now I have to guess.
If I guess wrong I waste a free listing for the month.
Why fix something that isn't broke?

Totally agree
As a buyer I used it to sort the wheat from the chaff in large searches. For example - I collect art deco and will do worldwide searches for items with that discription and browse large categories of items. Using the most bids function tends to send the most desirable, collectable, quality auction items to the top of the list. On eBay, if it's worth having then others will be interested too. So rather than checking every day for what's new and sifting through a lot of rubbish, I can check in from time to time and see what's generating the most interest.
The feature also works as a way of identifying good items that are close to auction time - large numbers of bids usually means we're getting to the pointy end of the business.
This feature is also bonus for sellers. If your product is attracting a lot of bids, it will help bring it to the attention of even more potential buyers
attention.
Now I can identify number of bids range (say 3-20) but I can't place the items in bid order.
Not nearly as functional
Such a shame to remove a feature that surely did no harm.
What is eBay's reasoning for this?

8 months down the track I assume petticoats has resolved her issues.
In the category I sell in about 1% of listings are auction, the rest are BIN. So a search by most bids would doubtless return buggerall.
DEAD THREAD!
