The courier company I use has raised prices making themselves only 20-25 cents cheaper than Australia Post. Do you guys think Australia Post will raise parcel rates again this year? I believe the last price rise was in April 2013 so should we anticipate another price rise around this time in 2014?

They usually raise the cost of domestic postage and a few extras i April then another hike, mainly for overseas, in October.
I suspect click & send may be hit this time as the price has remained static for more than five minutes!

I do know they are trying to get a letter rate hike from 60c to 70c which is the one i use the most.
I buy my packaging on Ebay which is far cheaper than AP, so helps me keep postage prices down.

Something that evades most people is that Auspost was always a profitable business and should never have been corporatised as is now damaging the economy in the name of quick profits while the government underhandedly spruiks a selloff of a profitable public utility. I often seee/hear people saying the government had to corporatise it as it was unprofitable which is complete and utter BS. Auspost was the rare exception of a government run business that was making a clear profit year after year. Now it is clearly a shambolic excuse to exploit us.

Yes, I believe that they will, and unless you get some kind of contract with your chosen courier, then I suspect that they will also rise their prices.
I would.
I'd still be cheaper than my competitor, the market would have no option but to bear the price, so I haven''t outpriced myself, and my gross income would increase as well.

Letters and large letter prices are going up on the 31st of March. I asked at my local post office and the lady said parcels may go up later in the year . Large letter rates have increased and will be $1.40, $2.10 and $3.50 from the end of March.

With Australia's inflation running at less than 3% for the past few years, how does AP justify increasing their postal charges by well in excess of that amount each year? Clearly they can charge whatever they like when they have what is essentially a mail-system monopoly. ๐

Eh? Has Aus Post been sold off?
And if it is for sale, blame the Tone government that most people voted for because they only watch channel 7 and read the Australian and the Daily Telegraph.
What rot!
