Do you think Ebay dead now with sales

My sales has drop because all the changes on ebay from 2 to 4 lot  a day on a min of 100 lots a month

down too 40 to 50 max a month .

I have noticed that a large company comes along and they put there product on the front page straight away

and i was selling more because they was not selling online they come back and they go stright to the front

So all Ebay helps is large companies than the smaller ones

Plus the large companies have very large prices on postage for there product and they get away with it

So is there some other company in Australia can open up a website so  people can sell there product on there with out all this bull **bleep** that we have to go though with ebay high prices and changes all the time they are kill small business and small sellers

Do you think Ebay dead now with sales

I just started selling on ebay, but compared to what I can offer at the moment it works. Come spring (I sell plants) I will insert loads more.

I run my own website as well on shopify which is easy to use but I sell nearly everything on ebay.

The fact is that running a website is a LOT of work because you must do all the SEO whih is incredibly time consuming (and boring at times). Try google for your items. In ebay they come easily up not so in your (at least not in my) own website.

I had a quick look into your store. You are selling fishing gear. I don't know nothing about fishing, I'm sorry, but there seem to be very little choice in your store. Your main page could be a little bit clearer. And a bit more information about you your products etc.

All in all you can complain a lot about ebay but it is still the easiest and safest way to sell, if you sell as a beginner you sell here!

I tries the other crafty website no sales. I tried gumtree and it is a pain. Even if I write do email people still phone. Then they realize that theylive too far away.

Same. Nothing wrong here. I fact, I wish they would slow up a bit because all the time spent away from home at the moment I'm having trouble getting everything done (I'm letting all my items end without relisting them until everything settles down a bit here, it's getting too hard worrying about both at the moment).

No offense, but pretty naive if you believe all that.....all the big boys have cut a sweet deal with Ebay.

Guy's like Dick Smith get huge incentives from Ebay to sell on their website - and even when they fail time and time again at the basics, they still are favoured in Ebay's brilliant Best Match Algorithm (thanks, cassini!) and are promoted like crazy on: Ebay's Homepage, Sunday Promo's and "Best Deals". If anyother seller had a similar feedback to Dick SMith - they would've had their account restricted by now, or have their listings buried in the search results. The big boys get preferential treatment whether we like it or not.

I just did a search of one of my items. My cost $29.95 with $5.50 postage. The store it is listed on has 100% pos. feedback, over 5000 feedbacks, 0.011% defects, 30 day returns accepted, powerseller. etc.  It ranked around 15th in the search.

Above it in third place was an identical item,  priced at $149.95 with $10.50 postage. Seller had 400 feedbacks, 100% pos., not a power seller, 7 days return policy.

I,m not sure how the best match search rankings are worked out, but it has absolutely nothing to do with price, postage cost, returns policy or ongoing seller performance. ( except when a seller has very low feedback % )

Sellers who clutter up eBay with op shop rubbish like paper back books make it hard for genuine sellers I think.

how is someone selling used books any less a genuine seller than anyone else?

ebay is a selling platform, not a private club.

one mans clutter is another mans treasure.

if it wasnt for people wanting to sell their clutter ebay would never have gotten started!
