Does Fast N Free get more sales??

I see eBay says that fast and free give an average of 11% more sales. Has anyone else found this to be true??

I already meet the requirements, however i charge shipping on the item, but am happy to include that into the price of the item if its worth while.

What do you think most buyers prefere to see:
xx product cost $20 with free shipping
OR
xx product costs $12 with $8 shopping?

Would love to know your thoughts and experiences!

Thank you!

Thank you all!! for your all thoughts, suggestions, and knowledge. You have all provided me with ideas on how someone else shops, confirmed some of my thoughts and also given me knew ones. I have some more research to do as well!

Im going to start out with some trail and error to see what works for me.

@gec2002 I dont use Turbo Lister but will look into that, thank you for all this information, will come in handy in the future. I have only started back with eBay again after a break and business overhaul, so in the future i believe that will be very very handy!

I wouldn't bother. eBay won't be supporting Turbolister after the end of this month.

I look at the total price more but I've looked at prices with one seller I go to and they obviously must have been wondering the same as you. They sell small things-teas & spices.

I noticed they had a couple of listings for a product I was after-one looked cheaper but had $2 postage. The other had 'free postage' but was $2 dearer.

This is some months ago, mind you. I ended up clicking the one with extra postage to pay-no particular reason, except I don't mind knowing what I've been charged postage. In this case, item came in an envelope, securely taped all around,  with $2 of stamps so that seller was actually out of pocket on postage costs, in my opinion.

Usually though the 'free postage' is more convenient for a lot of people, they don't have to do the maths. Plus they don't know what component is for postage and can't be down on you like a ton of bricks if your price is 5 cents over what Aust Post charges.

Just as a matter of interest, I have had to spend a small fortune latelySmiley Frustrated) Weddings/birthdays. I've done a lot online (mostly other sites) and very few of them include postage unless you spend over a certain amount-most commonly $100.

Admittedly, postage costs are usually only about $9.99 even on quite big boxes of stuff. And so far, services have been top rate, I've been impressed.

Re: Does Fast N Free get more sales??

From a selling perspective, the other benefit of listing an item with F'n'F is that the 'postage charge' component of the detailed seller ratings is automatically given five stars when the buyer leaves feedback.

When I buy, I don't have a preference for one or the other - if postage is separate I add in my head and compare.

With the recent spate of eBay discount codes though, F'n'F free becomes more appealing when purchasing, since the discount is now applied to the factored-in postage charge - when postage is a separate charge, the discount doesn't apply. Has saved me me a dollar or two on occasion! ๐Ÿ˜„

EDIT: Same thing probably applies if you're using a rewards program like CashRewards - I don't think the cashback amount applies to a separate postage fee, so you'll get a few cents more back if postage is included in the item price, everything else being equal.

Re: Does Fast N Free get more sales??

You don't even need to add the prices in your head to compare.

Set your search to price + postage, lowest first.  The first items in the list are usually free postage, but not always.

Yes I do that too, but I like to double check eBay's arithmetic! ๐Ÿ˜„
