EBay protecting buyers, and selling out on sellers

I recently had two owful experiences and eBay are not interested.  They follow the same prejudice recepie answers every time i asked.

I was left negative feedback and i cant do anything about it.  How can this be possible...  i fillowed all the rules and yet i am being screwed.

Why or why, can a seller leave a neg feedback for the buyer..  if they did the buyer would have a reason to stay honest..  but they dont thanks to eBay policies

The negatives for buyers was stopped by eBay about five years ago, as unscrupulous sellers could use negatives to threaten buyers into not leaving anything negative about them, to warn others.

eBay seemed to take the line that if buyers with bad experiences could not be honest, and shady sellers could keep selling to the unwary, eventually buyers would get sick of it and leave...so less sales, less fees to eBay...

which means, less buyers willing to trust the good sellers after a couple of bad ones.

sellers do however have the option to block bidders based on low feedback, non-payment strikes, and the like.

there have been many threads on how feedback works, and many opinions.

The best thing is to avail yourself as a seller, of the blocks, and if you receive a negative, ask for removal if it infringes policy.

if you have a non-payer, go through the unpaid item dispute process so they get the strike; so they can be blocked by anyone who wants to do so, after a couple of them.

personally block trouble buyers by adding them to your blocked bidders list.

if removal is not possible, leave a follow up comment, which unemotionally and factually addressses the negative. This will neutralise the neg for future buyers...who can see what's reasonable.

I have bought from sellers with negs if I can see that their buyer was the problem, not them 🙂

so, the feedback system is not perfect, but it had been abused by bad sellers in the past.

Apologies, as I will sound quite blunt here but...

You say you followed the rules, but one of your negs, was relating to you cancelling a sale without the buyer accepting the cancellation? I think the buyer is fully within their right to leave negative feedback. You did back out of a contract.

The other neg was relating to an item not as described and being a different brand to what was advertised. That's why eBay aren't interested. Providing that the feedback relates to the sale, eBay is not obligated to remove it because you don't like it.

And I must say your replies to the negative feedback will put off future customers more than the actual negs.
And a perfect example as to why seller's can no longer leave negative feedback.

Actually you are blunt. You manage do do your research, but there is not enough information so it's easy to come to wrong conclusions. Selling brand new items vs second hand brings on a while dimension if issues
Actually, the item was as described, and I just came across someone who expected a used baby garment to look brand new and be made using the same material you would find on a $2000 suit. I don't appreciate your misinformed judgements
With my other item the buyer did not follow my conditions of sale so he actually broke the contract dude
How would you like it if someone neg you item without even contacting you. ? Arrogant

Actually I used eBay for many years and remember the old system. It was a lot better. I never ver problems win it. Until now
All the changes eBay made now are so complicated, I didn't know any of this
If you don't use it everyday it's so easy to miss out on all the options.
A had several users that didn't pay, and couldn't do any thing. I am sure others like myself don't know you could block non paying buyers.
eBay should take some responsibility, after all they take 10% cut, what do I get!

Have to agree with bowler. Your reply to the feedback makes it look like you are on the defensive about being caught out over not describing your items correctly and not following ebay policies. Sorry but ignorance is not a defence for not following the rules. And how arrogant of you to brush it off with a claim its all over a three dollar item, item value has nothing to do with it. And just how many three dollar bad items is OK in your books then? 1, 10, 100, 1000? But then in your words "Its only a $3 item"

Apart from the fact that your descriptions are fairly sparse, if I bought 3 excellent condition suits, I would expect them to be the advertised brand and not have feet worn through.

I also can't see anywhere in your listings where you specify a payment timeframe?

Firstly, your original post was referring to the lack of ability for sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers. My reply pointed out the reason why that privilege was removed by noting your replies to your negative feedback being a good example.

In regards to your sale conditions, the buyer paid. You cancelled the sale. You broke the contract. The only obligations a buyer has is to make payment on a buy it now item. Your description didn't state any sort of conditions of sale. And apart from listing an item, describing it correctly, a buyer paying, you shipping it out in a timely manner, and the buyer receiving it in the condition it was shipped and described as. There are no other conditions that need to be adhered to.

The items that were not as described, the buyer clearly stated one was not the same brand as described in your listing, which you clearly stated that all three items were "Bonds." Your description stated that the items were in "Excellent condition." Which they obviously weren't. Again, the buyers were within their rights to leave feedback that they deemed suitable.

While it is recommended that buyers contact the seller prior to leaving feedback if they have an issue, it is not mandatory.

Is that enough research for you?

Now, if you are going to participate in the forums you should be able to take a little bit of backlash. You are asking for the opinions of other ebayers. Not everyone is going to agree with you, nor your attitude towards buyers.
