Under the guise of safety and protection Ebay has time and time again reiterated their ethos (or lack there of) as a global international label of 'authority'. Coupled with the **bleep**ised 'Paypal' that serves as no more the a siphen point for ebay to extract more money from the poor suckers who line up to barter their goods on this online marketplace.
Where did all this bias begin?
Sellers were equal here once: back in the day when they could combat those who deliberately extort and use what ever insidous means possible (and licensed, and even condoned through ebays 'buyer bias') to use the ebay bias to extract, hit and run after bleeing dry decent, abiding sellers on ebay, leaving sellers with a battle in their minds: Is tmy choking on the unethical bias enough to withstand my need to make money to support my family? How many gags must we yoke ourselves to? How many times do we have to feel the unwarranted heat of the bias before we 'throw in the towel' on the lure of money and just say: YOU KNOW WHAT **bleep** IT! I PAY 10% TO EBAY AND A CUT TO PAYPAL, but I donlt have freedom of speach to communicate to other sellers when a buyer uses ebay biased policy to exort you into satisfying them beyond what is required to ease the paranoia of unjust unfair or unwarranted negative or neutral feedback from buyers?
I am not willing to withstand the bias anymore. When I try to uphold the law of the land as a seller and act with integrity
Every time I call on ebay customer support for help am presented with a printed dehumanised response, that makes me think every dollar I give them goes into the think tank: where a newer 'better' more advanced robotic red tape centric motherboard takes place of the old, steadfast to make us feel more invisible and powerless than we already feel.
SHAME EBAY SHAME! Give US SELLERS BACK OUR VOICE! Give me FAIRNESS! GIVE ME EQUALITY!
I THINK WE ALL HAVE A LEGAL CASE HERE FOR DISCRIMINATION- WE ALREADY SIGNED UP! YET THE INK ON THE CONTRACT WE SIGNED UP FOR CHANGES MONTH TO MONTH! **bleep**!!!!!!!!
SHAME EBAY SHAME! SHAME EBAY SHAME!

It reminds me a little bit of Gumtree over here.
I think Gumtree could be a real possibility, it just needs to get some better system in place for small purchases/posting.
I've sold a couple of things on there where people have asked to have them posted and they paid into my bank account, and I have posted the things off but really, those buyers are taking a huge risk with their money (lucky I'm honest).
I have also tried listing on Quick sales and the set up there is very good, with a weekly progress report but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have viewers or any sort of public profile. I had only two views of one of my items in over 3 weeks, and only about 7 views on another item. Both sold in 5 days on ebay.
That's the catch, isn't it. Another selling platform needs to have some publicity so people know it exists.
gumtree is owned by ebay so it wont be long before it aint free anymore.
sold a few things there but its only local.
QS...mmmm..i have listings there but not even worth the bother to put them up..1 or 2 sales per year. thats, per year...was selling approx 5 items per week on ebay (same listings as QS) till i pulled all my listings off there cause of all these new policies and the fun has gone.
QS is very easy to use but yep, they need to advertise if its to be any good to sellers.

if QS started a print & TV promotion, or gets behind a show like Gumtree, then I think it might just take off. I also listed a couple of things on it but no bites at all (and the items sold on Gumtree soon after). The trouble with Gumtree is the time wasters who say they are coming round and never show. I tell them now 'ring me when you are ready to come and then I will give you my address at [suburb]. If they say they are coming within the hour I say okay, give them address and request they call/sms if they decide not to come/can't make it. I also put in my Gumtree ads NO text messages. Otherwise you get a string of sms back and forth. Soon separates the genuine ones. Gumtree needs its own Seller forum!! And yes, I bet the days of it being free are numbered too.

I've only sold one thing on Gumtree and for me it was a positive experience. It was an almost brand new chaise lounge which, which my late mother in law had bought a month before she died and had only sat on it 3 times. I listed it on the Thursday. A lady rang on the Friday and begged us not to sell it to anyone else as it's exactly what she was looking for and she would be there Saturday to pick it up (she was nearly 3 hours away).
Saturday she called to say she wouldn't be there until Sunday due to a bushfire (which was true). Sunday morning she called to say she had just hit town and would be there in about half an hour as she needed a caffiene hit. She was there inside 20 minutes. She squealed in delight when she saw it, then handed over the cash. My husband helped her load it onto her trailer, covered it up for her as it looked like it was going to rain and off she went as happy as a pig in mud.
The next day she sent an SMS thanking us once again and continued to tell us how happy she was with it and that it looked perfect in her house.
That said, most of what I sell isn't really stuff you'd sell on Gumtree, but if I had bigger stuff to sell, I'd probably give them another go.. QS, as they are at the moment, I can't see the point. If they start getting their name out there and buyers start heading there, then I'll probably give them a look.

Why would QS get bhind Gumtree? Gumtree is owned by Ebay!
