Ebay calculating International postage wrong

EBay is charging the wrong amounts for International. All methods. They are calculating them less than Australia Post. They need to update their system. Postal rates changed on the 3RD October. My buyer paid $37.15 for Express as stated by eBay it actually cost me $57.12. They need to fix this. I am going through and removing International Express from my listing. I have contacted them but the usual has to be sent to the Tech team. Lets see if they fix it today in maintenace.

Re: Ebay calculating International postage wrong

I use Economy Air Service & Signature on Delivery fee for most of my overseas sales (Overseas sales now acount for around 80% of my total sales, I don't know where the money is in Australia any more, down the plug hole I think !, 2 years ago sales were  the other way around, 20% overseas and 80% Australia), this Economy Service has been coming up ok, however when I use  the Standard Service ( Includes tracking) & Signature on Delivery Fee, this service is  always out by a few dollars, E bay charge more than what Australia Post get me to pay across the counter. If I didn't know otherwise, I would believe it was just another way E Bay can make more  money by charging commission on the (Inflated) postage !!, it's only a few dollars more, but take that over the whole of e bay sales overall and it soon adds up.I usually absorb the extra commission fee on the extra postage, as I would get more pleasure banging my head against a door ! than having to wait and then  talk to a Customer Service Officer about 'Refunds'.

Re: Ebay calculating International postage wrong

I have a similar problem where international mail always seems to be a few dollars less when calculated for the buyer, then what it actually costs when I go to the post office.

Re: Ebay calculating International postage wrong

eBay does not calculate postage cost they get it through API from a shipping carrier in you case from Australia Post. The problem is either on Australia Post side or more likely on yours. If it is yours then you are either have wrong package dimensions/weight or using AusPost postage type on your listings that has been discontinued.

Re: Ebay calculating International postage wrong

Hi Sandlash,

Definitely something has changed there as I have experienced a similar problem too with the two most recent international orders. It used to be bang-on and don't believe that the problem is on my end as I have not changed anything at all. They really need to rectify this as it amounts to a significant loss. I have had to request additional payment or cancel the order rather than incur loss transactions.

Sandlash posted in 2016 so he has probably worked things out by now.

Please start a new thread so answers will be more relevant to now as there have been many many changes even since the last poster posted in 2018
