Ebay limits postage cost depending on category

I stopped using ebay as a seller a few years ago when all the postage section got complicated.

so now i want to list an item that is going to cost me $6.95 + postpak or $8.25 for a satchel but the limit for that category is $7.20.

i just don't get it.  Postage goes on weight..........

So now i am undercharging on postage and now it automatically puts in a cost for additional item.  I don't want a cost for an additional item as it would depend on the weight of the additional item.  drives ya mental

Media categories, like CDs and DVDs, have flat rate postage caps, but they do not apply to calculated postage, and I don't think it applies to the rate tables, either.

If you need to charge more than the cap, you have to switch to calculated postage, then either enter the dimensions and weight of the package, or select the relevant satchel, and the correct price is entered. It will also allow you to add in an amount (under handling fee) for packaging and any other additional costs.

The rate tables allow you to set up automatic combined postage rates based on weight, but I haven't used them myself yet, so I'm not too clued in on exactly how to set them up - more info here http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/shipping-costs.html.
