Ebay managed payments (Australia) Opt out or alternative payment options to bank deposit

Ebay Australia's switch over to managed payments (for my business) is a major impediment not a benefit.

I am a seller who uses my paypal funds received from sales (on a near daily basis) to send payments across the globe primarily for business.

Under the new Ebay managed payments, I will now have to wait up to 2+ business days to now have my sales funds deposited into my bank account from Ebay (maybe another business day before the inefficient banks here process the payment) & then will have to process another transfer back to Paypal (Another 5+ business days) - I now have no other option around this after numerous chats/calls to Ebay customer service/accounts trying to opt out of managed payments or seek an alternative. The current system works well for me, even if I have to pay a higher cost.

As a seller, I personally couldn't care less about Paypal's spin off from Ebay & the 'business rift' that has developed between the two but there has to been an alternative (Hyperwallet etc) or some businesses will suffer from this narrow minded approach & could potentially leave the platform - is this in Ebay's interest?

And why do you keep defending them? This site sucks for sellers, no matter how you try to sugar coat it. They are greedy and offer sellers zero protection. So why are you so offended. Bit odd really

As I seller I find eBay pretty good. It has its issues, for sure, but all selling platforms do.

As for 'greedy', I don't see it. They're looking to return a profit to their shareholders just like any other publicly listed company. I don't have shares in eBay (and am unlikely to ever do so), but if you truly believe eBay are making excessive money, buy some shares in them.*

That would be the understatement of the century. They protect and support criminals, and sellers pay the price for that. I could put it in dot form to highlight every issue but Christmas is coming fast

I use transferwise to send money OS and at about 1/2 a percent cost I have saved a lot. If available to the countries you send to check it out.

And what would you suggest as an alternate, where they are not trying to make money,  is their a better platform?

Misty, you should pop over to benevolentBay and sign up for a selling account to evaluate.

Managed Payments has destroyed me. I didn't mind the Payment system after getting used to it as it simplified my record taking. BUT  85% of my sales were Linux Operating Systems & Open Source Software. Ebay Australia does not allow those listings under the New System so I lost over 500 listings without an explanation. Ebay did not warn about this. Every other Ebay site does allow it. Unfortunately to list on Ebay US, UK & all others does not allow Ebay Stores registered for Managed Payments to list anything. This experiment by Ebay AU has stuffed my Business with no recourse to fix. There seems no way to opt out of Managed Payments even after asking Ebay how to fix the problem over 50 times. 50 Questions & 50 different people with 50 different answers. I signed up to Ebay stores with dedicated Stores contact. Not any more. You get no more than some person selling something once a year even after running a Featured Store for over 10 years. Apparently if you sign up to a $500.00 a month Store you get personal assistance. So unless you are a corporation or a chinese backed seller you get no service. This comment will probably get my store restricted again or closed but I don't care. Ebay give no help to anyone. They are noww too big & too bloated. I have gone from a turnover of over $3000 a month to under $400 & dropping by the day & in the last 2 months since managed paments I have gone from a living Wage/Profit into a Tax Loss. Have now applied & been approved for Sole Trader Job Keeper. I will now receive $750 a week courtesy of the Australian Taxpayer. Way more than I need cos I live very frugally. Oh well I have paid tax for over 45 years so I guess it is not bludging.

Interesting.

A member here apparently has it in writing that the grey areas won't be switched to MP.

I guess, once again, he's wrong.

Doesn't help you unfortunately, but it does reinforce the adage not to take eBay 'guarantees' at face value.

I always keep a backup store handy and for this reason did not switch it over to managed payments. I don't think you could start a new one without being forced onto it but if you had a second account or access to one you may be able to transfer listings over to it.

Iagree. It really is so frustrating. I have had the same ebay"support" experience. 10 different answers/excuses from 10 different ebay staff.

I can't proceed with registering for Managed Payments because frankly I cannot trust ebay with my bank account login details being entered anywhere near their platform.

It looks and feels so risky.

Do you really have to give your login details or just your BSB and account number?

There is no danger in giving your BSB and account number....they can only deposit money, not withdraw.
