I just want to draw everyones attention to completly unfair selling and listing violations that eBay does absolutely nothing about.
Money is more important to them than creating a fair and level playing feild. (as is with all corporations)
Case in point:
I have several direct competitors that have fake Aussie accounts, there is a way to check this and I will tell you. Click on their product, below the box where the price is displayed, you will see something like, "Item location Regents, Park. NSW". However, when you on click their feedback number you will see something to the effect, "Registered User in China". This is because the feedback information is stored on global mainframes (which holds your feedback info for a lifetime, even after you are dead) it officially system roots their I.P address (the number that identifies them, and their global location) to that server. This, can not be faked, if you're from Africa, it doesn't matter what you do, the country from where you are REALLY located, will appear on that page.
I have reported these users sometimes up to 3 times a day for a week for a total duration for 14 weeks and counting. I've even used eBay's "Call me back" service, and had a really nice young man being blown away when he did the above proceedure, and he assured me, he will hand it directly to there investigation team . . . . and nothing has been done.
At this point, I will state, that young man, (and innocent staff receiving my reports via the messaging system) sincerely meant what they said, but, they were the only people that were concerned, because, as soon as this violation was relayed to the investigation team (decisionn makers), they filed it in to the "who cares" folder.
Think about it, are you going to close down any of these guys? My selling fees are about $700 per month, their selling fees would be in excess of $1000+ per week, they are Power Sellers who have shooting star ratings.
So, my point is this, why don't we change the name of this place from eBay.com.au to eBay.com.cn ?
Our listings should at least have priority over international listings, but no, they are pushed to the back.
Now, I'm a reasonable man, instead of kicking their ass to funky town, at least set some proceedures in place so that when someone uses the advance search filter settings "Australia Only", ONLY AUSTRALIAN LISTINGS APPEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FROM LEGIT AUSSIES IN AUSTRALIA. Not Mr Wong, who is taking a handful of people who sincerely want to buy from Australians, but don't, because they are duped. Are you still with me? That's the only opportunity for us to get niche customers, and that too, is taken away from us.
Even as a seller, I buy a lot of things. Just 3 hours ago, I was searching for "Watchmakers tools" (try searching for that after you've finished reading this, and see I'm telling the truth), it took me 40 minutes to find a legit seller in Australia, I had to click their feedback number/count to figure out where they were really from.
Finally, if you've read this far, I need your help, how can this be fixed? What could be done that would reach the decision makers? I've tried countless times reporting this using standard methods, and nothing gets through to them
I'm interested in your views.

Regarding the product being located in Australia, and the seller in China. It might be different with the products you sell, but 100% of the sellers listing similar products to me are in China, with products in China. But state otherwise (lie)
To be honest with you, I don't really know.... I sell jewellery and craft supplies, and there's definitely no lack of competition, particularly in China, but I personally spend very little time looking at what they're doing. I do notice some things, since I often need to go looking for craft supplies myself and I don't want huge wholesale quantities (and/or I already know it's cheaper on eBay), but strictly in terms of them vs me... at most I sometimes look at their prices, and sometimes get slightly bemused by the fact that they don't start stocking certain products until I do (not saying I'm a trendsetter they're copying, my store is less than a blip on the radar to theirs, I imagine, just that every time I go "ooh, no one else on eBay has that...", it lasts for about 5 mins ).
I don't actually mean that to downplay the issue - as I said above, eBay do need to do something about it, I'm just saying I find it a better occupation of my time to concentrate on all the things I can control (which excludes eBay, and other sellers). eBay will throw all manner of excuses at you for not doing anything about these sellers and this particular problem - one, from memory, is that even though they're listing on the Australian site, they have to be reported in the country they're registered...
That is clearly BS because it's the Australian site's policies they need to comply with when listing here, and the Australian site's policies they've breached. IMHO, as frustrating as it can get, if eBay are going to act clueless every time it's brought to their attention, I'd rather not give it any of mine. It's going to bite them in the long run - they make such a huge song and dance about the "buyer experience", yet it seems they don't give two figs about ensuring some of their sellers actually provide one. (The most they have done is make so that if a buyer has to return an item, it needs to be to the same location as stated in the listing or the buyer does not have to return it at all, but still gets a refund).

I have looked at this post and I am a buyer. I totally get what Village Photos is trying to say. I don't want a rubbish China product, I have already experienced this when I bought a DS years ago for my son. It stopped working and when I contacted the seller, they said no problem send it back. No returned product and I have not been able to contact them since, they even blocked me on thier store website. So when I want to purchase an item in Australia with an Australian warranty, I should be able to click the Australia only advanced search and be confident it is an Australian seller.

it really peeves me off too. When I want "Australia Only" I don't want stuff from everywhere else.
The search filters never work properly on that one.

The Australia Only filter is rather deceptive. When you select that option, you only see sellers that post only to Australian addresses. If you only post within Australia, your listings will show. If you post worldwide, your listings WON'T show, because you don't post to only Australia.
If a Chinese seller only posts to Australia and no other country in the world, their listings will show. If they post to Australia and the US only, their listings won't show. If a US seller only posts to Australia, theirs will show, but if they post to US and Australia, they don't show.
By using that filter, you are actually filtering out a lot of Australian sellers who post worldwide, or to at least one other country. The best way I know to search for Australian sellers is to use the distance filter.

"sellers with "Oz" or "Australian" etc in the store or ID names"
Just a quick thought about this - sometimes I think this is an administrative thing to help the drone... uh... employee remember to which country's site their listing should be made on. I could be wrong.
I think a lot of Chiense sellers do add the word Aus but a lot of Australian sellers do it to try get across the fact, a little,we are based, live and the items are in Australia. I have just purchased 2 domains with the word AUS in them for later use my Ebay usernames will change to reflect that. I do agree some Chinese seller put the count code in to remind them which country they are flooding

Excellent Topic my friend.
Sellers based in China and other overseas countries now sell in Australia and tell customers they are Australian based sellers, when they are clearly not and are committing fraud by saying they are Australian based sellers , but send the products from China or hong kong for example. Why Does Ebay allow these sellers from China say they are based in Australia when they are not and are based in China and send from China ?? I would love Ebay Australia to please explain this to Australian sellers, because we are being ripped off, because when Australian customers put Australian only sellers China sellers coming up and they pretending to be Australian sellers, but when you look at the account for 30 seconds you can clearly see fraud is being committed on Ebay. This has came to my attention about two years ago they started committing fraud by pretending to be Australian sellers when they are clearly not. I have reported all these sellers many times without any response or any action being taken. yet God help a Australian seller if he runs out of stock on more than ten occasions. We as sellers in Australia need to speak up and talk about this more in our Australia EBAY community and collectively report as a mass group of sellers. Because we are being ripped off. I can't sell in China as a local Chinese seller with a Australian base. Ive been a seller on Ebay for 12 years and turn over more than 20 million dollars in this time and now everything about Ebay and how to ride the ebay AI data smartly, I have had 100% positive feedback in this time also. I would also like other Aussie seller to know that Im here to help any other seller with any questions or concerns they might be dealing with. Helpful First Nations Elder.

The problem is , if you live in China for example and your store and base is in China, You can't put up listing pretending to be Australian seller.. Get it ? , Its ABC, or your committing fraud by being dishonest and ripping of " Australian only " Customers in Australia who want to receive the product from Australian sellers, not Chinese sellers, furthermore, they want to get the purchase with 5-7 business days, not 10 to 60 business days. But the serious problem is customers searching for Australian companies to buy from and unbeknown to them , they purchase from Chinese sellers in the Australian only sellers category.
Itsa horrible to see a chinese sellers putting Australian seller and based in Australia when they are clearly not and customer not receiving products for 30 to 60 days after the purchase. It's seriously sending our valued customer directly to our competitor Amazon through disatisfaction of Ebay not governing the site correctly. I have over 5000 sellers on Ebay who want to pay for a full page article to be put in the Financial review to show what's really happenin g on Ebay and how Australian Ebay sellers are being disadvantaged and ripped off. Best Regards Your First Nations Elder Ahmed :))

Will you be able to help with reading the date of a thread that was old when the Dead Sea was only sick?
