Have I got this correct?

If you have looked at the seller fees on the site map and that's what they say, then 'Yes'. And it only costs 50c to start a listing at $19.99. And a 1c listing also attracts a 50c listing fee. I believe (and I'm not going to bother looking the price points up - you are surely capable of doing that) $3.00 is the maximum for a general listing, so presumably a $100,000 item would also attract a $3.00 fee.
I'm not sure I get what your query/point is.

If you looked at the fees surely you could see that starting your $20 items at $19.99 could have saved you a packet?
You could open a store for fifty bucks a month and only pay 20c per listing as a BIN with best offer for 30 days or you could list on another id that does nor have PS status so you get 30 free listings a month.
Listing fees only become disproportionately high if your items don't sell!

Hi, I have looked into both opening a store - did not work for me at all, as it has not worked for many other people, and selling something from 19.99 which frequently sells at that price, does not bring in enough profit at all, when all the fees, paypal, final fee etc are taken out.
I can see that this is a pretty pointless discussion however.

Hmmmmmm....just had a quick look at your listings.
You have 33 items currently listed.
If it is costing you a minimum of $1.50 for each listing, (some of your items may be a little less) you are forking out somewhere around $50 every 10 days! (so around $150 for a month)
A store would cost you that amount for listing the same items for 30 days - almost a whole month?? And your Final Value Fees would be lower.
If you are worried about not getting the exposure, you could still run a couple of auctions a month and still come out on top!

Thank you b3llag1na, I appreciate the tone of your reply, very friendly and helpful which is great. I think you are right and I will have another go at looking at a store. Thank you for your advice.
It is nice to get some helpful advice, written in a friendly tone.............

Er , if it only costs $3 apparently to list something starting at $900 why on earth does it cost $1.50 to list something only starting at $20??
Huge difference in value between an item starting at $20 and one at $900 and yet comparitively high listing fee for something that is soo much lower in starting price.....
Have I got this correct?
The difference is, that although it is relatively cheap to list that high priced item, eBay will get their fees when or if the item sells. If it cost, say $30, to list a $900 item then many sellers would choose not to list those higher priced items and eBay would miss out on the final value fees.
So . . . . think of the listing fee for the $900 item as a 'nominal amount', and not try to reconcile it as a percentage of the value of the item. Also, if the sellers have to list those $900 items 5 times before they sell then the fee would not be $3 but a multiple of three.

if I had known you were going to thank posters for 'friendly' replies I would have attached a smilley face to my reply . . . . . . so . . . . although a little late . . . . . here it is ๐ . . . . .LOL

fashionwithness,
If you start your auction at $19.99 with a cost of 50c to list it and it sells, you're better off than starting at $20.00 with insertion fee of $1.50 and it sells.
You're right, whatever you start it at it could (and often) sells, but you're only losing 1c but gaining $1.49.
Goodness I hope that makes sense.

I dont understand why a story didn't work for you, surely your items are the perfect target for an eBay Store. Stores work for millions of ebay sellers world wide, you just have to stock them and keep your stock figures running high all the time to get sales
(says me, who has sorely neglected my Store over the last few months due to other committments), but once I get to 100+ fresh items, they DO SELL>
