100 free listings just about every month. Why? I understand that it is to encourage them to sell more but I am a loyal seller who now finds I use my friends and mums account more than mine. How can I get more free listings?

start another selling account - an extra free 40 listings every month and you don't have to wait for the promotions.

A loyal seller? Who refuses to open a store or pay listing fees?
Open a store. You will get at least 80 free listings a month - and lower FVF.
I work on the premise that bonus free listings are exactly that - a bonus. If I don't get them, I don't sweat it.
Are your mum and friend aware of the ramifications of letting you use their accounts. If things go pear shaped, they are the ones who will wear the consequences, not you. Assuming that matters to you. Or the fact that mum and friend could get their accounts shut down because it's against eBay policy to allow anybody else access to their accounts.

Have you checked in your account that you wish to receive promotional offers etc? If you don't have that box ticked you will never get any extra free listings.
I get them very ocassionally on one or the other of my non store accounts but I don't often have the time to use any of them as I am already attempting to get 280 listings up and active every month.

When you open a store you only get UP to 80 free listings for FIXED priced items only.

that's a basic store - there are 3 levels of stores.
and you can have auctions if they're in the collectables category
lots of sellers run FP's through their store and then have a couple of auction accounts as well.
