Exactly what does Paypal require for proof of postage?

I send everything at large letter rate, as my items are so small, so I don't use Click & Send or anything fancy. Larger orders I send registered post, and the PO gives me a register receipt with the registered number sticker on it.

If something doesn't arrive, do I actually have any proof that satisfies Paypal that I've sent the item? I used to think registered post was all I needed, but the receipt and number don't actually have anything on them that shows the recipient's address.

Up until recently, I used to be given a "lodgement receipt" to fill out, but the PO never gives me any paperwork anymore. Should I be asking for it? Would a stamped lodgement receipt satisfy a Paypal claim?

>From what I can understand it doesnโ€™t sound like what you get back has any proof to what address you sent the letter to.

True, without the Proof of Lodgement (I can see I should've been asking for those!) there is no evidence of which address you send the registered item to.

My Auspost receipts don't have any postcode on them. They say "PPL Reg Post x 1 ... $3.50"

That's it.

>Are we at Australiaโ€™s post mercy and hope they will provide additional information to us when we go back rather than get it all when we send it?

In the case of a buyer making a Paypal claim, we are at Paypal's mercy!

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I haven't actually had a problem with any claims yet, but I can see that I'd have been caught short if someone had made a claim. So I'll get those Lodgement forms.

Good Question Smiley Wink it is one I've been asking myself and luckily so far every thing appears to have been delivered but not 100% certain as not every buyer completes feedback - I used feedback to confirm to me they have received their package.

In years passed I too used to used the Australia Post Lodgement from (filled in at home) - when everything was Registered Post..... none of this Signature on Delivery (for parcels)... one day, years ago I meet a local lady in the post office who sold alot of things online - and she had an excercise book with the buyers details in it and the same local PO (decribed below) used to stamp her book - it was at this time I started to use the PayPal instant payment received email - as it had the item details and the buyers address and my address. He would stamp this.

When I started selling again recently (July) the Post Office closest to me (is a Franchisee - and a grumpy man) and I was told - no we don't stamp anything anymore the till receipt is all we give - I was asking him to simply stamp my printout with the buyers address - I did try explaining that I needed some form of proof of lodgement to satisfy PayPal Buyer Protection... he just didn't care.  I was concerned as some of my parcels were less than 500gms but larger than a large letter so definately a parcel but no postcode is printed on the till receipt for parcels less than 500gms.  I've read some of the threads and am now going to try and use C&S for my parcels but I still have some things that are considered letters.

I was told my my LPO to use the Signature on Delivery stickers for these too - I've since found out this is incorrect!  I've simply decided to stop going there - and have chosen to go to the LPO in my next suburb.  I purchased a box of Registered Post Sticker Labels and they kindly stamped my PayPal instant payment received email as my proof of lodgement - hopefully they will be willing to continue to do this.

C&S is great, except for me, my items mostly do not fit in the 3kg sized satchel - they need to be the size of the 5kg satchel - the "old" business account holders used to be able to buy a 3kg satched which was the same size of the 5kg - I wish they still had this available as it would have been perfect for me.

I do appreciate reading these forums and the advise given from many of the members ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers

Melissa
