Express Post delivered to wrong address

Hi, I posted an item yesterday and it was delivered today, yay for great service, or so I thought...

It was sent express post and I logged on to have a look at the online tracking and it's showing up as being delivered to a suburb 100+km away from the intended address.

I haven't heard back from my buyer yet so I still hold a glimmer of hope that it's an admin error on their part and it was successfully delivered (to the right person that is). But assuming it was delivered to the wrong address as it would seem, does anyone know what sort of an effort they put in to finding it? It was a large item and it would have had to go via one of their contractors so presumably the address is on a manifest somewhere so finding where it was delivered shouldn't be a problem.

Financially it doesn't concern me, I'm confident of being able to recover the value of the item should it indeed be gone but it's a scarce item and I dare say my buyer would be very disappointed if it can't be located. I may be jumping the gun and there could be a logical explanation but if anyone has any reassuring tales about the great lengths they go to find missing items I'd love to hear them, not holding my breath though! 😛

Well it seems that it has shown up, no idea why a completely unrelated address showed up online but all's well that ends well I guess! Thanks for your help.

I think you will find with express post the suburb showing is the delivery centre the parcel goes through and not the buyers actual suburb which is why the address seemed odd.

Re: Express Post delivered to wrong address

Big stick below  re Australia Post.

http://www.pio.gov.au/

Australia post is liable to afford you the same minimum amount of compensation regardless which of their products/services are used.

Note the common complaint themes.

http://www.pio.gov.au/making-a-complaint/common-complaint-themes/

The PIO receives a large number of complaints from people seeking compensation.

Typically this arises out of a postal item being lost or damaged, but there are other scenarios in which compensation may be sought, such as

consequential loss a refund for a failed service (such as an Australia Post redirection)

damage to property (for example where a delivery contractor has a vehicle accident).

Terms and conditions

Each registered PPO has a document setting out their terms and conditions for the payment of compensation.

These are generally available from the operator's website and/or may be part of any paperwork given to the customer.

For example, the terms and conditions for Australia Post are available on its website.

If you are given information by an AP employee that contravenes (or appears to contravene) these terms and conditions then

COMPLAIN........ (not here but !!!) to the relevant authority FFS

link to APs compensation terms and conditions below...can anybody see anything regarding compensation regarding regular post?????

http://auspost.com.au/statutorydocuments/generalpostalservices/frame.htm

73 Amount of Compensation

73.1 Notwithstanding clauses 68 and 69, where an article has been lost or damaged in the course of carriage otherwise than by registered post, Australia Post may in its absolute discretion elect to replace or repair the article or pay to the c...

73.1.1 the replacement value of the article;

73.1.2 the cost of repair of the article; or

73.1.3 up to the sum of $A50,

There is generally a maximum payable amount for compensation depending on the mail service used.

If your complaint relates to the amount of compensation paid or offered for a service failure, check the documentation (written or online) for the product or service you have purchased.

If you have applied through the operator's processes but are not satisfied with the way your claim has been handled, you can contact the PIO.

That's right down to the "information" that is given during a phonecall...make sure to get the australia posts workers name.

If you do not complain about shoddy misleading services or information...how can you expect anything to change?????

As said, the delivered address showing was probably the delivery centre.

Re: Express Post delivered to wrong address

When I track items I've purchased, another suburb shows, the mail centre, and also says on board with driver - status Delivered. Must say I got a fright first time, now I know it means, arriving soon.

I know this is the other way around but being new to using pay pal and ebay, i paid for an item and i forgot to change my mailing address to my new house address and clicked pay without even thinking it, and now its going to be delieved to my old address, i only made the order and ive contacted the seller to either:

cancel order; so that i can re purchase the item with the correct mailing address. i am worried that some how my  money will get taken and i wont recieve this item because they arent willing to cancel the order.

change address; ive also asked them if they wont cancel the order atleast send it to my correct address.

i just need some reassure as to what will happen and that i still will recieve the item and wont get scamed!

Re: Express Post delivered to wrong address

Did you message the seller straight after buying the item? If so, you may be able to message them and explain the issue with the incorrect address and advise them of your correct address..

I did the same thing as you not long ago so I just messaged the seller straight away and she was happy to mail it to the correct address..

Hopefully she hasn't sent the package already

Re: Express Post delivered to wrong address

It's usually a good idea to start a new thread when you have a new question, rather than dragging up an old one that isn't really relevant.

Talk to the seller before you panic.
