FEE"S.

Just wondering has there been any info released from ACCC in regards to the outrageous final postage fee that is making it difficult for small time sellers as myself...If some say stamps sell for like $0.99 postage of $2.00 because I need a large envelop it's actually costing me to put something on. I lose because it cost $1.50 to list it..all I got to say is **bleep**

Re: FEE"S.

and what % of the fee is tax they dont pay to the govt. so the aussie people get a benifit?

but we cant argue as we use the service cos there is no alternative.

can only hope one day ebay has competition so they have to rethink all fees and charges to remain in the game.

I think at this stage is more a matter of there being no better alternative for a lot of people, rather than no alternative at all. For a business, there's actually heaps of alternatives, some cheaper, some more expensive, some requiring a bit of investment in time and/or money, so they have their pros and cons.

For casual sellers, Facebook is still developing quite nicely for a lot of people (and they are consistently adding features / functions to make it easier. The site is community-based, something eBay has left by the wayside and even actively sought to chip away at any remaining sense of community, so FB as a highly successful and viable alternative to eBay is very possible).

I think eBay benefit more than they should from the "no alternative" perception.

Re: FEE"S.

There are alternatives.

I have the same stuff on a couple of them, cheaper as less or no fees, and I can number on the fingers of my hands the number of annual sales.

OZtion died when Carsales bought it and decided to not advertise, even though all their other subsidiaries spend significant money in advertised/sponsorship. I have heard they only bought it for the software and have no (demonstrable) interest in a non-niche selling venue.

Re: FEE"S.

I was trying to speak in broader terms, but remain relatively brief 😛

When I think of alternatives - viable ones - I don't just mean other sites where someone can create a single listing which will be in amongst thousands (or millions) of others, and wait for people to find and buy it, I also mean the alternative of creating an independent website (hence why I mentioned there being a difference between viable alternatives for businesses / casual sellers, as well as some requiring an investment of time and/or money, usually "and" 😄 which is why eBay consistently remains considered the "only" option. It isn't, but it requires the least investment of time, despite all the pointless busy work they like to task sellers with on the odd occasion Smiley LOL).
