Why oh why won't Ebay allow negative feedback for a buyer that refuses to pay. Why does a buyer who won't pay be allowed to have 100% feedback rating. This is grossly unfair to both all the honest buyers as well as the honest sellers. This is a very one sided protection of bad buyers. Ebay claims that bad feedback of buyers will discourage buyers, But do we need them. If they don't pay then Ebay doesn't make any money from them. Ebay relies on both sellers and buyers to make a profit. Unfortunately the seller cops all the costs but the buyers (good & bad) get all the protection. Without sellers there would be no Ebay. I for one have listed my last item for sale.

Thank you all for your replies. I didn't know how to block certain buyers. I appreciate the lesson.

Thanks for the detailed info, I did manage to find the buyer requirements page and have adjusted my requirements. It's a good day when you learn something new.

dont worry about not being able to neg them, do the non payment dispute, that gives them a strike
a few strikes and any half bright seller wont be dealing with them

OK, I must not be half bright how do I identify a buyer who has strikes against them. Can I stop them from bidding? Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure why you would end your selling on Ebay over this.
Just do Buy-It-Now with the Immediate Payment option ticked.
Problem solved.
Sometimes buyers don't pay - that's part of selling on here.
Just open the UID after 4 days, close another 4 days after that, get your fees back and move on.
And don't forget to add them to your BBL so they can never buy again.

1) Put them on your Blocked Buyers List. You can put anyone you like in that section, up to 5000 ID's.
2) Also, make sure that your buyer restrictions are set as tightly as possible. (See Account Preferences/Buyer Requirements)

You don't need to identify buyers with strikes on their account if you have your blocks in place.
Set them to block any buyers with more than one strike in 12 months and you will block most of the problem buyers.

I see nobody has explained how to set up your blocks or how to find your blocked bidder list.
To set up blocks, go to Account > Site Preferences, then Buyer Requirements. When you've ticked all the boxes on that page, make sure you scroll down to the bottom and click on Submit. Also tick the box immediately above Submit that stops blocked buyers from contacting you. This only stops them contacting you through the listing - they can still contact you by going to your feedback page and clicking on Contact Member but it cuts most of them out.
I have my settings so anyone with 2 unpaid strikes in 12 months gets blocked, and I have everything else set to the highest possible level as well. I don't require phone verification because my blocked list never shows newbies, though occasionally someone will open a new account to get around my blocks.
On the line above Submit, at the end of the sentence there's a link to your blocked bidder list. Put all your buyers who don't pay into that list so that they can't buy again, regardless of whether they have no other strikes or not. If they change their username it'll change on your list so they'll still be blocked.
