Does anyone else feel that the buyer's feedback should come before the sellers feed back. I have never received negative feedback but I always feel awkward about leaving feedback before knowing that the buyer is happy with their purchase. To me the transaction is not complete for the seller until this point and therefore feedback is premature.Things could quickly go pearshaped if there is an unscruplous buyer at the other end and you can't retract your positive feedback.

This is a pretty hot issue. I had my preferences set to leave FB when I rec'd +ve, but I was leaving FB for buyers once a week regardless anyway.
After reading these forums and talking to people in the real world, I think a lot of buyers won't leave FB until their seller leaves it 1st. One person actually told me if they dont get FB 1st, they feel the seller doesn't care about them and they only EVER give 4 star DSRs if any at all.
My view was always that a seller who leaves FB straight away, going on about how happy they are to be paid was more careless.
I'm still not mentioning payment in my FBs, but I have decided to give em what they want so I've changed my preferences, now they all get a glowing positive, lucky duckies ๐

To be honest the feedback doesnโt mean that much as far as a buyer goes.
It does give a nice fuzzy feeling for someone to say how easy a transaction was but the real significance is for the seller it will give an idea as to whether they would be better blocking a buyer rather than trying to gaining future business from them.
For example: If I had quite a few negs or neutral FB from sellers, whoever I buy from next may decide to bbl. me rather than putting me on a mailing list.
I do think Buyers should have a bit of a star system or rating for sellers so they can get a better idea of the honesty of the buyer they are dealing with.
I also think it is VERY important for buyers to give sellers prompt feedback as soon as they can, and do whatever they can to resolve issues without malice as this is what the seller relies on to get a great reputation.
The feedback should never be made with emotions but always be factual and honest.

Will the "Who gives FB first" carp ever end??? It is irrelevant to buyers so who cares? Every day there is yet another thread about it. Really, who cares?
Sorry but so over reading about it,

Two people sitting at the table waiting to start eating, both think it is only polite to let the other one start before them.
What should the Dr put on the death certificate?
Death by politeness?
Who the blardy heck cares who leaves feedback first and as a buyer why on earth would I care if I never received another feedback as long as I ebay!

LOL PJ, totally agree. I leave FB as soon as people pay, and then do not worry about it. Well, so what if the deal goes pearshape later? It really makes no difference at all if the buyer already has my 1 positive FB or not.
Instead of stressing about FB, I would politely try to resolve the problem, and so far it always ended well.

If you're a seller think of feedback differently, think of it as advertising and you are leaving a mark so the buyer can find you again.
Ours is automatically set to leave feedback on payment based on the theory of advertising. We definiately don't even get 40% returning feedback from our customers but we have a lot of repeat customers that haven't left their feedback.
